Which underlay to choose?

I will need underlay for most of my home at some point when finished decorating. The little carpet in my house when I purchased it had to be thrown out because it stank. I did see that tradepriced site a while back via a google search and the products sounded okay.
My lounge floor will need underlaying and being solid I wanted something which provides some insulation from the cold floor. So sounds like the Cloud 9 11mm might be what I need so I will keep a note of it.0 -
unfortunately our big dog peed on our carpet upstairs in the loft a few months ago.....mopped it up and shampooed it...however have since had roof leak and have had to lift the carpet up and found a rather large pee stain...my question is can i clean this? what with? or should i replace it with the carpet...underlay is cloud nine and has only been down a couple of yrs and looks ok other than the stain

can you not just cut a square around the stained part with a stanley knife and replace with a new little square using the old square as a template and then stapled down.
Can you cut the stained square out and soak it in the sink with detergent, roll the the said square in a dry towel to soak up the wet and air dry to prevent any shrinkage and then staple down before new carpet.0 -
