Date night ideas (out of the house)

I am looking for ideas for things my OH and me could do that don't involve food. We are both on diets and one slip up and we end up off the wagon again (it has happened so often) so we can't have the occasional meal out until we lose a bit more weight. This means that we never go out, that and the fact that we have two small kids.

I have thought of bowling and the cinema but was hoping for a few more ideas...the cheaper the better too!

Ok, maybe not cheap enough....country walk & picnic blanket (not for a picnic :) )

Or to add to the list above, comedy club, jazz club, cooking course

If you are trying to lose weight join a gym together. You could then have nights you go together and then seperate nights where one babysits and the other goes.

If you don't want to commit to a membership pay to go once as an occasional one off. You could play a game of badminton or swim most leisure centers are open till 9/10pm ask for a list of their activities.

You could focus it around loosing weight, ie a game of tennis, hire a badminton court, go for a run together, a long walk across the beach.

You could go to a Salsa class, join a night course together in something, go to the Theatre, try your local comedy club.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

It's worth getting an orange sim card for one of your phones and then making most of 2-4-1 Wednesdays

OH and I did Ceroc for a while, great fun and a good workout.

I would second a trip to your local pool as well, especially if it has a sauna / jacuzzi so you could swim then spa.
  • I'd second kegg's idea of the gym, OH and me are pay as you go members of the local council run gym. So much cheaper than any of the other gyms around, and our local one has all of the same facilities as any of the big chains. Tonight we're going to a bodypump class then sitting in the sauna for a little while after :)

Theatre, concerts and gigs, comedy nights..? Galleries and museums, most have free entry?

Depending what diet you are doing you might find you can go for meals as long as you make the right choices... I remember being on WW and being able to share a portion of chicken tikka, a portion of plain rice, and a couple of poppadoms each (a while since I did it but is just an example.
Second the idea of doing something exercisey together. OH and i go for bike rides and really enjoy it, might be getting a bit dark now, but the gym / dance classes / swimming / going for a walk (to the pub!) all sound like good options!

Quaser/Laserquest type thing. Definitely a hotel room for the evening :) dance class, there might be some Christmas markets around soon and late night Christmas shopping. Comedy nights and theatre.
