How many of you are getting rid of Egg?

Who's getting rid/ has recently got rid of their Egg card because of all the new interest hikes/ BT fees etc? Just interested as I've read a lot of threads about this on here. I've had mine since 2001 and also loans and savings accounts with them. I've decided to close everything with them now as they're just not competitive any more.

Edited to add that I meant the Green card as opposed to the Egg Money card :)

I'll be keeping the Egg Money card, but when the Egg Card is paid off at the start of next month, I'll be closing it down.

I was going to get rid of my Egg card at the end of the month. However, I received an e-mail from Egg yesterday offering me 5.9% on balance transfers for the life of the balance, with no BT fee, so looks as though I'll be keeping my card a bit longer now :)

I got Egg-actly the same email yesterday Frogling (fee free LOB until end of the month) but I won't be going for that. Are you thinking that something better might be around the corner? Maybe a free fee (or possibly capped fee) annivarsary offer?

Coincidentally enough I e-mailed them yesterday to close down my egg card. Like Watcherman and Anwen I'm keeping my egg Money though.

I received a reply saying that they had begun the "closure process" which would take up to 17 days, maybe more if I had used the card recently! It also said they would probably phone me in that time, no doubt to give me the hard sell

Same as Frogling - I received that email and will probably go for it as my 0% Natwest card runs out in November and there aren't many good 0% cards around at the moment and i've recently been credit checked for mortgages so may not be a good time for me to look for other cards.

They haven't written to me at all to hike up my interest rates on my Egg card - no doubt I'm a bit further down the queue.

Closed Egg Card 2 days after my last fee free BT taken out in April was paid back.

Kept Egg Money (which the poll isn't asking about - I'm wondering if some people misread the question and thought it was talking about either egg 'card')

  • i have egg money - i have BT the amount o/s to barclaycard (4.9% LOB) but will keep the egg money open for routing BTs fm my overdraft thru to barclaycard. if i didnt need it for that i would close it down tho as i have really had enough of egg - been with them for a good few years and have always paid things off on time and always more than minimum payment, also have a large loan with them that is being paid off but have had nothing but hassle, worry and trouble from them. and they used to be so good. not anymore.

Yes. I've received the paperwork for the M & S card, so when that comes through, the Egg card is going.
