Buying out mobile phone contract - no vat charged??

Hello all,

I'll be buying out my mobile phone contract on the 15th of this month and was just looking for some guidance so I know what to watch out for in case they try to pull the wool over my eyes.

I called a few days ago and as my service plan has changed (i've been downgrading it to make it cheaper to buy out) they said I couldn't buy it out until the 15th of this month when the change has been finalised.

I heard on this forum somewhere that you do not get charged the VAT on the remaining months of the contract you are buying yourself out of, can anyone confirm this is correct?

Any advice much appreciated,

David
