Daily Thread Thursday 7th October

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 7th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all, ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, up early to get DD1 & SIL to the airport, back later,

Morning Csarina & all who cross, & follow
Groundhog day here so far, breakfast eaten, fish fed, packups made, hubby dropped at the station & DW loaded.
We've chosen the music for our ceremony, we will walk from the house towards the alter to Samba pa ti by Santana, we're also putting a couple of hours worth of music onto CD to last through the feasting & merriment part afterwards, otherwise BIL2, who considers himself a music expert will put 'Drop it like it's hot' by Snoop dog on! Hubby has chosen most of the music, I've contributed 4 songs so far, all connected with children in the family.
Ham & mash for tea tonight.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hey all - another lovely sunny day in Yorkshire - but will probably have rain by the end of it. OH has kept to his bed for the last 3 days - not going into work. Am very worried about him as he's depressed but isn't getting any help - MEN! Packed lunches made and boys dressed. Have decided that I will gut the house - so today am starting on the childrens bedrooms. Will be giving them a good spring clean - including the carpets (!!) and then putting back things that they should have in their rooms - whilst probably finding a lot of things I've been missing.

Tea tonight will be something from the freezer - or maybe jacket pots - depends how organised I am. OH said last night that he has to be a bit more selfish with his time  so now I have to get the boys in bed every night. This has been the only time he's spent with them during the day so far. However, as I'm worried about him I'll be an :A and help him. Anyway, this isn't the place for this rant :lipsrseal.

Lots of hugs to those in need. xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Reading the daily thread really helps me get my head together in the morning. Thank you all for having such inspiring days :D

I'm having trouble getting dressed this morning(?!) and my cinammon porridge with chunks of fresh plum isn't as nice as usual :( Knowing you're off to eight hours of lectures really doesn't put a spring in your step!

    Morning all

Chilly but bright and looks like being a decent day. WM emptied and washing on the line. Next load in the WM.

Stew and dumplings went down nicely last night, tonight should be HM lasagne but maybe something else as quick tea needed as we need to take caravan to site, so am meeting DH where we store van straight after he finishes work.

As always on days off have lots to do, all the normal stuff and want to get the porch sorted as it's become a bit of a dumping ground. Will try really hard today to get housework, washing, drying and ironing - done and finished - so tomorrow I can do bank, shopping, cooking and baking, and packing for weekend. Really need to get on top of everything as there's one or two things that I have let slip, and once it starts it's difficult to pull it back.

Got a promotional letter from the big high street chemist yesterday, and looked at their website, got some really good ideas for X**s pressies, lots on 3 for 2 offers, and looks like I can do most of the shopping in one go, (obviously relying on the store that I visit having what I want ....?!). Have started the shopping, and then realised that I had some other bits I'd forgotten about, so coming along nicely.

Right need to crack on, so must go.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning again.....

Back from the airport, good journey there horrendous coming back due to traffic and low sun dazzle........at this time of the year it is so low in the sky it comes under the sun screen on the car.

All the guest bed linen is on the line. Towels in now. OH was still asleep when I got back, not now, I went in and woke him after I had hung out the washing.

They are working on the road in the village its horrendous with the tractors etc trying to get through, will use the other way out onto the road this afternoon when we go to the tooth man.

It was nice to have DD1 here, SIL can be a pain at times, I just ignore him when he has a moody.......they bought us a box og Thorntons chocolate back from Edinburgh yesterday, we sampled them last night, scrummy.....will have to ration them to make them last longer....some hope!!

Library and butchers for liver this morning dentist this afternoon so I am going to chill for the rest of the day, will tackle the bedroom clening tomorrow. I think we are going to change bedrooms for the winter, our room has two outside walls the guest room only has one.......

    Time for brekkie.......

Yet another busy day - WM is about to go on, I'll be hoovering any available space of carpet in the house today, and more besides. And then I'll be updating my budget plan to make sure we keep control of the pennies. :money:
The weather's nice and bright here for a change - does wonders for the mood as well.

ESMF Sorry to hear you're having a bit of a rough time, but as somebody has said previously, make sure you look after yourself too! Big hugs coming your way...

    Have a great day

    Morning my lovelies :D

Very foggy this morning which I hope means the sun will come out later.
Got to make the pastry for my stewed apple today. Really wanted some foil dishes but I am not going to have to get chance to buy any from local town and I don't want to freeze the mixture yet as I want to freeze the apple pies when they are made.
Will get the kids helping on that in a mo ;)

Tea tonight is bacon and potato cakes.

esmf - Hugs for you. Sorry to hear your H and you are having a hard time of it. Must be difficult but make some time for yourself if you can.

OK had better get a move on.
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.
