Credit Card Bill Has Been Paid By Someone else?

I have recently opened a post office credit card as I am temporarily working overseas.
I have set up a direct debit to pay off the full amount each month.
I have had my first statement and the due date was for the beginning of this month.
I have checked the post office online service and it has showed my balance as being paid off in full but the money has not left my bank account for which I set up the direct debit from. What is the best course of action?
The balance was paid on 3rd October.
Thanks.

Leave enough money in your bank account to cover it. Inform the Post Office CC people and your bank.
Do you bank with Santander by any chance?0 -
I bank with Alliance & Leicester so in a way yes!0

I'd like one of those cards which get paid off without money leaving your account.:j0

Are you REALLY SURE it's been paid off?
The Post Office online system is monumentally misleading. It often shows my account as having a zero balance when there is indeed a balance. It can show nothing due too.... It's very ropey.0 -
I think there are threads in the banking forum here indicating that when A&L moved onto Santander's systems recently a lot of people found direct debits cancelled and/or direct debits that had previously been cancelled reactivated.
It might be worth you checking with A&L that the Post Office Direct Debit is still showing and live on your account.0 -
Similar thing has just happened to me - although I don't bank with Santander. In my case it's a new Santander CC. First monthly DD payment was due a few days ago. Santander show it as paid a few days ago, but it has not left my bank account.
I called Santander, and they basically said that they were late sending out the DD instruction (not sure if it's because it's a new CC account). They say it should hit my bank account within a few days. As it's their error, they're showing it as paid on my CC account, to stop late payment fees and interest kicking in.
If the DD was eventually declined by my bank, I'm sure Santander would retrospectively apply late fees and backdated intrerest though!0 -
I have had a similar situation where it came to light down the line that someone else had been paying part of my CC bill with M&S.
This had actually been happening in fact unbelievably for 17 out of 19 months.
I was contacted by M&S and told that someone had given the wrong account no and paid a fixed amount monthly. I tend to look at what is on the statement and as I pay the total in full each month by DD.
I could not believe that I had not noticed this but the Manager for Recovery told me a lot of people don't check their bills and accounts fully.
I owe them £969 30p and have now sorted out to repay to them this money. They have been great actually and offered that I could chose to repay over a period even a year if need be.
I decided to pay over 9 months without incurring any interest. I have just had the Manager on the phone again this morning to confirm that a letter will be sent to me with all the details. I will continue to clear my bill each month and £100 per month for the next 9 months and that they will absorb the £69.
I feel better now to be told that I have been brilliant about it all. Just hope the OP has had their end sorted out equally and I do feel so stupid that I had failed to notice this for so long. I tend to all my shopping even my groceries with this card as it is a cash back card.
Good for you noticing this so promptly. Yes it may be the BANK!! with the way things are currrently with the Santander take over

That'll be it. Go over to the bank accounts forum and witness the absolute chaos as A&L accounts have been merged into the Santander systems and had their sort codes changed.0 -
I've got an Asda card via Santander and (typically) the DD Payment isn't credited to my statement on the due date, but not claimed until 2-3 days later.0
