ALL of the energy companies run a specialist register for those deemed to be vulnerable. If you have a disability even if you are not registered as disabled then you can be entered onto the register.

I have had several people with mental health issues put onto this scheme as they find it difficult to handle money, not only does it give you a lower tarrif but it prevents you from being cut off (especially in the winter).

If you think you have a hardship and/or disability case then either give the company a call OR get a support worker to do it for you.

The link from Scottish Power seems to indicate that you may only get a free gas safety check. I don't get my gas from them but will give them a ring anyway to see if there is in fact a lower tarrif for those with a disability.

I'm with Scottish Power, ignore what they are saying, the tariff you are looking for is called Fresh Start. I'm on it because of my DLA. Give them a call and ask about it, they may want to see some proof but I never had to show anything. I'm also 20, not over 60 so you can get things younger than that.

No idea, I was calling the general customer support for another issue and they were able to sort me out on that at the same time. Don't think there is a dedicated number for it. Try looking on saynoto0870.com to find a cheep number to call them on - I use it all the time as I only have access to a mobile.

I have to say that scottish power as a company are absolutely rubbish .there website is a pathetic excuse for trying to save a person money .if you are unfortunate to find yourself on a prepayment meter and have health problems they do nothing to help you save money on your heating or electric.I was told that when I explained my circumstances and the explanation came from the ceo of scottish power that there is nothing that can be done to help me and my family.if there is any help for there unfortunate customers I will be astonished but good luck in finding some .
