a lady I knew was in a similar predicament, not on benefits but a low income with no excess funds to spare - her friend was on benefits, so the friend took the dog to the PDSA, saying it was her dog & got the op done for free - its a thought

and also obtaining funds by deception. people go on about people on benefits playing the system and commiting fraud and youve just advised this person to do just that!
i'm sorry but your advising this person to take away a chunk of funding from the pdsa, that she isnt entitled to!

OP im sorry to hear about your young dog, and a shame the insurance has been eaten away, you have to decide whats best for the dog under your given circumstances, it would be unfair of you to take the advice of virgin moneysaver.

try fitzpatricrefurrals in surry (the bionic vet) whilst is miles away from you it may be worth a visit.
and try and contact your pet insurer, after all said and done it was diagnosing that took away the money now the poor thing needs op and theres no money left, see if they meet half way as good will.

There's a dog suffering in all this red tape and legality.

OP have you no family that can loan you some money to get going on this? Will the vet not take part payment for now? :(

and i sympothise theres a dog suffering, but to take money away from a charity by means of deception is unfair,

put it this way £3000 is spent on dogs hip displacia unknown to them its by deception, whilst a dog is run over needing an emergency operation to save its life and go on to make a full recovery, the funding has been taken away so the cheapest option would be to put the dog to sleep.

Thats an awful thing to suggest and it's committing fraud.

While the dog is suffering still, I suggested on this thread a few days ago that maybe the OP could get a second job to pay for the operation.

To date she hasn't replied to my suggestion and the dog is still suffering..... she's hardly a dog lover in my book

So sympathy should lie with the dog and not the OP

You must have missed this post welshmoneylover
Thanks, I am taking him tomorrow for final consultation, which is costing 500 pounds for the day, I will know more then, thanks..I work all week and at university from 9.30am to 7.pm one day a week and studying the rest of the time, I dont think I will be able to work a second job..

As to your other point I agree, the PDSA have only a limited pot and have to target the very poorest of society, if the fairly poor take the money fraudulently then there is less money for every legitimate claimant - a dog may be suffering either way.
  • Thanks for all your posts, I wouldn't dream of fraudulently seeking help from the PDSA, that is why I posted on here, trying to seek advice. I picked up my dog from the specialists, this evening, I didn't get chance to speak to the consultant, but I have a meeting with him tomorrow. I should know what is happening then. I will post tomorrow, and once again, thank you all for your advice and comments. Calder
