Calder if you could give the Animal health trust a call on 01638 751000. They have a needy cases fund, the only thing is its in Newmarket, Suffolk. Would that be too far for you to travel?
Its worth giving them a call, maybe if they cant help they could put you in touch with some one that can. I hope it helps.

Good luck but what about my suggestion of getting a second job to pay for it?
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

Calder, your dog has lived with this for 5 months. You really don't need to worry about the operation HAVING to be next week. Take the pressure of yourself and take a longer view. This may give you the time to find or arrange funding.0

Thanks, I am taking him tomorrow for final consultation, which is costing 500 pounds for the day, I will know more then, thanks..I work all week and at university from 9.30am to 7.pm one day a week and studying the rest of the time, I dont think I will be able to work a second job..0

Sorry to hear about your poor dog. I would also try the PDSA, or even speak with your Vet and see if you can get a payment plan in place. It would be unrealistic for anyone just to have £5k sitting idle ready to spend "just in case"
Also, you have said you are willing to try anything. How about approaching your local paper, and see if they'll run a story, as you may find folk would donate or something.
Is this diagnosis and proposed treatment realistic, or just the opinion of one vet? Is it worth "shopping around" other vets for quotes. Mercenary I know, but worth it if can bring the costs down.**This space is available to rent**0 -
Good luck with this, I hate the thought of your little baby being in pain I wish I could help.0

Thank you all for your suggestions, my vet has sent us to this specialist, which is expensive, so I don't think that shopping around is an option for us. Your messages and suggestions are a big help, thank you.0

a lady I knew was in a similar predicament, not on benefits but a low income with no excess funds to spare - her friend was on benefits, so the friend took the dog to the PDSA, saying it was her dog & got the op done for free - its a thought0
