HI, im new here, so just wandering if i could get some help.
my partner ordered a two 2 seater sofa's from DFS on monday the 4th october and agreed on the 0% finance over 4 years, 1st year payment free.,
subsiquently today she has a phone call from DFS that the credit finance company have turned down the application for credit on god knows what grounds.. they wouldnt tell DFS why.
Now the manager is saying if we cant get the credit or someone else cant get the credit then they want the full balance in cash because the order has gone to the manafacturers... this is within 48hrs of ordering it remember.
can DFS demand we pay in cash or can we cancel as we havent recieved the finance to pay for the order as signed for.
Thanks!!!

You should argue that the finance was part of the deal - ie that the deal was to provide sofas for 4 years monthly payments of X and that you are still happy to stick to your side of the deal. If the finance company won't finance it, then that is DFS's problem.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Surely the order is "subject to finance"? ie no finance, no order?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I agree with the others, tell DFS if the finance is not there you do not have the money to buy it.0

There is an older post on here same circumstances and the lady assumed that no finance no sofa 12 weeks later she got a call to say come in and pay your sofa is here.
I think you can cancel the order but they do charge for it.
Perhaps do a search on dfs posts (there are lots of them)
The problem is they dont use inhouse finance and just order sofas before they know of any problem its a shocking way to do business but for some reason they are still allowed to trade.

DFS Cancellation Loophole
If you order from DFS and realise within 7 days you wish to cancel because you have found the same sofa on the internet at a cheaper price or for what ever reason, than you need to follow these steps.
On the direct debit paper work they will have on it in small writing you have the right to cancel your direct set up with DFS within 7 days...cannot remember how it was exactly phrased, but its along the same line...
1) Cancel your direct debit with your bank.
2) Notify DFS you wish to cancel and that you've cancelled the direct debit they've set up with your bank, however they will tell you you cannot cancel.
3) You might even get a phone call afew days before the sofa's get's delivered, even though you tell them at that point you have cancelled, No doubt your delivery will still arrive. And when it does, Read the paper work and DO NOT SIGN FOR THE DELIVERY.
It worked for a family member and also a few friends...Happy days...:T0 -
People learn from thier own mistakes and other peoples experience and mistakes...I have a funny feeling you work for DFS or have something to do with the company and its obvious this is the only way you can cancel with DFS. How can you be held liable when you do not have the product!!! think about it!!! I don't know about you but I certainly will not pay for something/product I do not have in my possesion!!! Would you??!! DFS use tactics and tricks to close thier deals. My family and friends used thier brains to get out of it. Please read the title...DFS Cancellation Loophole...I think you need to check your facts before you reply to my reply. I think your name says it all... Good luck learning from your own mistakes and experiences...DonB7860

DonB786, please can you explain why you have posted the same wrong information on four old threads?
Cancelling a Direct Debit does not cancel an order.
All that happens is that you still owe the money, and any company would have every right to pursue you for that breach of contract.0 -
In this circumstance or smilar, the contract is not valid because the other party has not recieved or signed for the delivery. How can you start paying for something you do not have!!!???0
-
Once the product is recieved and signed for, until this is done it is not a valid contract.0
