Thanks very much OP! I needed the next stage up of car seat for my child, which was going to cost £109-£120. I've just bought it from Boots for £112 plus 3354 points back, and paid using Paypal so used some money from things I'd sold on eBay rather than affecting the bank balance.
The £33 worth of points will probably be spent in the January sale, buying presents for next yearVery pleased as the car seat was something I really needed to buy (ok spending it on luxuries would have been more fun but I may treat myself with some of the points and get a luxury too
).
Thats FANTASTIC! I was a bit upset when I read some of the posts, but yours really cheered me up. The whole point of MSE forums is to share our finds enabling all of us to get what we need at a price we can afford. I probably wouldn't have managed to save so much If I hadn't saved so much hanging around here LOL.:T:T:T1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:

You don't need to explain yourself to anybody.
A bargain is only a bargain if you want it, so giving my kids a load of items I got for 1p from Tesco's may be absolutely bargainous but it's hardly going to be the kind of christmas I would want for them!
All I can say negative about your post, is that i'm so jealous of your daughtersI hope your Lancome stuff is amazing and you feel a million dollars on christmas day.
Because of you, my kids (who have asked for 5 things each and would never even expect to receive them) will wake up with eyes as wide as saucers on christmas day and I will treasure that moment before they're too old for father christmas
£200 spent.. for..
£295 goods that I really wanted at an unbeatable price..
£48 in points for the jan sales to get my daughters bday present
THANK YOU!!

Ignore it - there are always one or two on this board. You certainly don't need to explain yourself to them. I agree with you that it's a glitch.
Quite a few people can afford to spend that kind of money on presents - MSE doesn't exclude people who have money.
Being MSE doesn't mean only buying things that cost pennies, it means getting the best value you can. If you wanted to buy those things anyway then it's a bargain.0 -
the front cover item is this week £16 instead of £35, next week is the ted baker vanity case £19 instead of £40.0

I was putting things I would like to buy in the basket, if I had the money, I never thought for a second I would get them today. When the opportunity arose I pounced, then shared it with you.
I was intending getting these items anyway at the Boots xmas shopping evening, it works out about the same.
The only reason I could afford to spend £120 on 3 presents was the fact I was getting so many points (I'm saving them for perfume for my daughters) all the items were on 3 for 2, my budget per gift was around £30 for each one, so thats just about what they cost. But they are getting presents worth £60 instead.
Then Claire21 posted the Lancome deal, that was on my wish list for xmas, but I didn't think for a second I would EVER get them, 4444 points meant I could get them and perfume for myself. My OH gives me £100 every year to get myself something nice.
I've been saving for xmas since February. I had £500 saved and spent £350 of that tonight with £104 back in points. I wont be spending the other £150, I'm going to save another £50, and give two of my daughters a card with £100 each in them, one is a student and the other on mat leave, they are both skint.
I was under the impression that the purpose of this website is to help us manage our finances better, thus enabling us to improve our standard of living, as I've said before I've never spent so little and got so much!
There is no way you should have to explain:D you do whatever you want to do and give whatever you want to give and thank you for letting us know about the points glitch I am sure some people will be very grateful to you for your time and trouble, the others can hop it:D0 -

Thankyou MOTHERSHIP, I have not actually been able to use this glitch as I just don't have enough Boots pressies to buy yet. This is however what this site is all about and for anyone to suggest otherwise then they should not be on this part of the site - I think perhaps the freebies site is more appropriate for them. It is disappointing that someone can turn something good into something useless when it is not a glitch they want/can use. There is no need to be mean!0 -
Was a bit surprised by some of the posts, but tbh, I don't think it matters as much as some are saying. I agree that it's about getting the best value for money. A bargain is any kind of better value for money IMO.
As for spending that kind of money, I do. I don't smoke or drink, but I save up and then treat myself and my sisters to UD & Benefit makeup. I buy when the 10% off offers are on, or they're on 342, or GWP. I once read a post on here about life being too short, and the poster had decided to use their GWPs rather than saving them for something special, which is what I used to do. That post touched me so much, I started using mine too!
Life is too short sometimes, so why ask how others get the money, or why spend so much on fewer items. It's personal choice, and we're all entitled to it.
So thank you so much to the OP! It's a great dealNo buying unnecessary toiletries/makeup in May: Unnecessary spend £17.60
May INs: 14 UUs/OUTs/GAs: 11
2012 INs: 77 UUs/OUTs/GAs: 91
Savings from UUs: £60.50

Thanks OP! Just ordered a car seat and got over £35 of points! With double points on car seats, parenting club points and the extra for spending over £100!
Been keeping an eye on these car seats for a while and they are 20% off as well!:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j0 -
Don't know if anyone has posted this already but there is a boots code for £5 off when you spend £15 on No 7 the code is NNSF53 not sure when it expires or if you can use on No7 xmas gifts but might be good if it works on 3for20
