Faulty Phone on 3 (instore) chances of repair?

My daughters Sony Erricson T715 has given up the ghost, bought on 15th April, the phone will only turn on with the charger in and sometimes says " you need to use a genuine battery" which it is and is the one that came with it. Will they offer to repair it or is it a case of buying another phone. If so any cheaper 3 payg handsets about.Thanks

You could try another SE battery if you have one and check if its not water damaged.
Ebay you can get the battery from cheap.

It will be covered under 12 month warranty at least from SE - so you could send it away for repair to SE (free I think, check their site) but if they find some damage which is outside of warranty cover, they will want to charge you to send it back. Otherwise they should fix and return it free.
