5 different a/cs - 5 different passwords etc - what a nightmare!

I'm new to online banking but I've taken the plunge this week. 5 different a/cs - current, savings, ISAs with different providers and most of the security questions are different; so have had to supply different answers to each question. No way can I memorise it all, so have had to write it down.

How do others on this forum cope with all this information?

    Egg Money Manager for me.

First Direct Money Manager for others.

Theres also a neutral program but I can't remember what it's called.

Example of Egg MM. You choose what accounts to show and which ones not to :)

Could you give an example of a security question you have difficulty remembering the answer to?

Personally, I can remember my first car, my mother's maiden name, my first school/last school attended, etc...which are the security questions I seem to be asked.

For passwords, I use the same 4/4 letter word for all of them, eg ABCD1234, and just mix 'em up depending if the password has to be alpha, alphanumeric, or just numeric.

I 'double up' for longer passwords, and remove characters for shorter ones, eg...

    8 digit numeric...12341234
    8 digit alpha.....ABCDABCD

    8 digit alphanumeric...ABCD1234
    6 digit alphanumeric....ABCD12

    5 digit numeric......12341

    etc, etc

I second Stompa, try KeePass, I use it all the time for all my accounts, including this one. You have just one password to remember to gain access to all your others. You can put it on a mem stick and carry it with you.:T

There's a school of thought which says you shouldn't answer such questions truthfully (or use the same answer across different accounts).

I subscribe to that school of thought. :)

Writing it down is not a bad method if you're careful what you do with the paper. Keeping customer numbers separately from passwords is sensible.
