Hi, im not sure where i need to post my thread?

I have a diamond ring that i want to sell, but i dont know where to take it?

Its about 10yr old, and has a cert with it with original cost (2.5k), 18ct white gold, 0.5ct diamond.

Should i just go to a pawn shop, or a proper jewelers?

I fear you may have paid way over the top unless it's a very highly rated stone.

I'm not too fussed what was paid for it, it was from the fiances first engagment & she wants to sell it now.

It was all hand made for her, but the stone is pretty good according to the cert.

I would go to a proper jeweller first and get them to advise you and perhaps give you an estimate. I wouldnt be venturing to the pawn shop until you have had it looked at from one or 2 jewellers first.

Welllllllll she wants rid as i have got her a nice new ring (i think she thought i would re use her old one (no chance))

It didnt cost as much as her old one, but i picked it out myself & she seems happy with it, so she can get rid of the old one

I'd like to know what its worth as dont want to stick it on ebay and get pennies for it, or ask too much for it!

I'd take it round all the independant jewellers that you have locally.
They are more likely to be interested in buying a second-hand ring than Ernest Jones.

As them if they'd buy it from you and for how much.

Not much point asking them what they'd estimate it at, it's how much hard cash they'd give you that matters.

There's a world of difference between an estimate of value and an offer to buy it from you.

If your certificate shows that the diamond is a very good colour and clarity that might bump the price offered up but if it just gives the price that might not be too great.
