Sony Ericsson W810i - Saying inactive sim?
I got a W810i which was on Orange. Today I went to a market stall and got it unlocked.
I came home and tried a O2 sim of mine, the phone displays the words 'inactive sim'. I then tried a T mobile sim and the t mobile logo came up, but when I tried calling nothing happened.
I then tried Orange which it originally was on and says inactive sim. I can understand this when its for orange because I only have a brand new orange sim which isnt activated.
Whats going on?

Sounds like the handset has been IMEI barred (i.e. reported as stolen), this bar, if it is the one... Cannot be lifted.CPW Retail

Cannot be lifted..... (legally)
100% correct.
barred phones on 02/orange display "inactive sim" or "limited service" or "sim registration failed".
on vodafone/t-mobile you will get a signal but when you try to make a call it will beep and say "call failed" or "call ended".

I have the same error message but it was vodafones fault when I asked about insuring my phone they put a block on the sim and the handset saying that it had been lost or stolen.
Now been without a phone for 4 days as they try and fix it I can now make and recieve texts only:mad:0 -
IMEI bars CAN be lifted legally by the network operator - where did you get the phone from OP?
Also, unlocking at a 'market stall' is by no means illegal either, it's just that they don't charge the extorniate prices that the networks do!

Also - T-mobile displays "Inactive sim card" if its a faulty sim, or one that used to be active, but isn't anymore. Tried the sim in a different phone at all?~*Cerenia*~
