Well I tried knocking on the owners door
Was told to f... off so will try contacting the police.
Shame they didnt let me finish what I was going to say as I would have even offered to let them park in front of my house as I don't own a car.
Will take some photos and forward them to the police.

You did the right thing in approaching the owner first.

Often the mere act of pointing out someone's selfishness can solve the problem.

Obviously not in this case so go for it - get the police involved and hell mend this idiot.

Someone keeps doing this outside my house as well. I live on a narrow road with a reasonably narrow pavement - but there is enough room to park a bit on the pavement to allow traffic to continue to flow, but also allow wheelchairs and pushchairs etc to still get by, so there is no excuse!

Two people in vans keep parking right outside my house, so close it makes it hard to get out! The other day one of them parked so close to my front door that I couldn't get out of the house at all! I opened the door and told him to move, which he did. The other driver I haven't seen yet to ask him to stop parking so close. It's so selfish. People have to turn to their side and shuffle along to get by. I use a wheelchair sometimes, so need to be able to get it in and and out of my own house! It's so selfish.

On my way to work there's a Van that was parked on the path, forcing pedestrian, wheel chairs and pushchairs out into the main road OR squeeze into a bush to get passed.

I took to slamming into his wing mirror rather than going into the road, it was also difficult to avoid "touching" the whole one side of the van with the metal buckles on my backpack as I squeezed past :D

After 3 weeks he finally got the message :j
“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

When my kids were small I would endeavour to force my pram through the gap these inconsiderate idiots had left, and if I knocked the wing mirror etc then so be it.

These people wont park their cars in the road because they feel they may get hit, yet they think its then perfectly acceptable for me to have to escort my children into a busy road? I think not.

I know someone in Bolton who had a similar problem. After many repeat offences and taking the matter up with the council, they put metal bollards along the pavement edge so no-one could park on the pavement.

you just need to persuade them that there is more liklihood of them losing a mirror if its parked on the pavement than in the road.

Bad parking seems worse at night than during the day. I find a plastic extendable dog lead can do some serious damage especially with a labrador pulling it.

I have a friend who prefers the non costly but far more unpleasant approach of smearing the contents of his dogs plastic bag over the mirror. Said it woked very well.

Agree with previous post bag of birdseed works wonders too.
