£53.33 Am I being ripped off?

HI all

I have broadband and phone with NTL, the phone is unlimited calls, we only use the broadband for browsing, maybe the odd small download, and i dont play games online.
Is £53.33 too expensive?
Bloke at work said I was being ripped off.

If I am who else can I go to, I live in the Swansea area.

Thanks

We are on three for thirty with ntl which is broadband, basic tv package and the line rental. I would imagine you would have to be making a hell of a lot of phone calls to make up the extra 23 quid. I would say your friend/colleague is right.

The so-called 'unlimited' package only includes calls to numbers beginning 01 or 02. These are known as geographical calls. Except for freephone, all other calls (eg 084x/087x) are chargable and NTL/TW are really expensive for these types of calls.

084x/087x numbers are used by many, many businesses/gov depts these days so its difficult to avoid them and in most cases companies/gov depts using these numbers can earn revenue in return as well

Instead of thinking about another ISP you should read this thread first and see what NTL are prepared to offer you to stay :)

That links you to the back end of the thread rather than having to read right through it.

i think that's far too expensive. Aol broadband £9.99,i believe any telephone company could offer you unlimited call for less than £15,so £25 per month would be enough i think...

Hi, i've contacted NTL and after saying i wanted to leave they gave me 2 meg braodband, free off peak calls (after 6 and weekends) and basic tv package for £26. They also installed digital tv for free (normally £25) It broke down to me getting the broadband for £9.99 for 6 months but they would'nt move on the phone/tv package as a new customer can get the same deal but they did give me half price line rental for 3 months before so soon as the digital tv is installed i'll be ringing back.

    Good luck
