Aw thanks hethmar.
Froglet - so sorry to hear you had a crap timeOn the plus side I haven't been measured or anything for the crown, which woudl have doubled (or more!) what I would have paid... but yeah, it's annoying to have to face up to being the small percentage of ones which don't work. Am a stubborn little so-and-so and to have been through the treatment only for it not to work is a bit frustrating... From reading up on RC I know that the antiobiotics are highly unlikely to be anything but a short-term solution, but it'll be nice to be pain-free for a little bit (hopefully!) before I have the extraction
Glad things are easing for you now, really hope it continues to improve

Am now on metronidazole and amoxycillin as a last resort, but looks like the RC tooth will have to be extracted. I would need to pay full whack for a second RCT (another £400 ish) and he said he reckoned there wouldn't be a lot of point in going that route, though if I really wanted to try it then he would be happy to give it a go. Am not surprised but pretty gutted that this RC has failed
- I was so nervous about it and was so pleased with myself for going through it, but I know there are no guarantees.
^^ agree with hethmar about avoiding dry socket at ALL costs, it's seriously unpleasant.
For god sake avoid alcohol while you're taking metronidazole!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
^^ Don't worry I will - dentist cheerfully informed me I would be violently sick if I mixed them
However, just realised am going to be at a wedding the day after the course finishes and you're supposed to give them 48 hours to get out of the system before drinking... it'll be a quiet wedding for me then!0 -
It will indeed, just have Appletiser in the champagne glass instead of champers - no one will know!

I do hope it is all cleared up in time for the wedding.it always took the full 7 days to clear up,an as you say,it is only a short term solution.Becuase i refused to give in and accept defeat with it,i suffered more in the long run.
If only you could buy hindsight we would all be queuing up for some !!0 -
It's still getting worse
am torn between finishing the course (got 36 hours of antiobiotics left) or just going in now... god I am sick of having toothache!!

Poor you.My dentist said thet he would take the tooth out even if i had an infection present, but he would prefer not to.I do know when i had an infection each time it took the whole weeks worth of antibiotics before it went completely but it did gradually get better in that time, not worse.I would get in touch with your dentist and see what they say,if it has to come out as an emergency and he is prepared to do it i would get in there, quick!!At least then it might be improving by the time you go to the wedding.0

I only got 5 days worth of the antiobios
I ddin't realise that it's not a good idea to take teeth out when there's an infection, but that makes sense...
I think I'll ring the practice...0 -
Hi I need advice really everyone
Last Weds I was suffering from toothache in a front tooth so went to my dentist as a emergency and she said I had a tooth infection and told me i needed treatment on the tooth in 2 sessions. Anyway she prescribed antibiotics for me and I have a 20 min appointment this Thurs for a RCT. This is my first RCT I have ever had so dont know what to expect. Receponist told me the price would be 44.60 which I thought is ok. Im a nervous person anyway What will happen in procedure?
Also behind tooth where infection was a lump has appeared in the top of my mouth and doesnt seem to be going I finish my antibiotics tomorrow and still there is there still infection there and will they still do RCT with lump there? Also will I need a crown after my RCT as dentist never said anything about this.
Many thanks
