My 83 year old father is in need of a mobile phone. He needs something very simple to use with large buttons. No camera or mp3 necessary. I've seen a couple which puport to be designed for older people but they are not well known makes and are expensive. Can anyone help? I'd be very grateful. Thank you:)

Vodafone used to do a handset that was specially made for people with difficulties. My elderly uncle used one without any problems. I believe it was called the Vodafone Sagem VS-1. Sadly unavailable brand new now.
You could try ebay see if there's any on there.0 -
How about one of these ?
Or if they're too expensive maybe this from FocalPrice , works out around £30 delivered but as they are in China the dleivery may take a few weeks.0 -
Look at the Doro 410 from Carphone Warehouse.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

Don't forget to go through Quidco or Topcashback for £7.50 cashback.0 -
As E2save / Carphonewarehouse phones are usually unlocked, just buy the one on the cheapest network, use up the £10 top up and then you could move to one of these:-
Tesco lite PAYG, 8p per min for calls and 4p per text. There are others that also charge 8p / 4p:- Asda, Talkmobile, Giffgaff.0 -
Many of the cheaper PAYG cheap phones have buttons that are just far too small - I've recently been on the look out for a phone for elderly parents.
I can certainly vouch for the quality of the Doro range of phones - robust and simple to use, with a clear display - just very expensive.
The Doro Easyphone 410gsm is available free from Orange on their £5/month contract (plus £30 quidco cashback) which is a reasonable alternative to paying the £100+ pricetag. It also means no topping up problems. Depends what's important.0 -
The Samsung E1170 and Nokia 1661 and cheap, easy to use phones. The Samsung has a solar panel for extra charge in case it has not been put on charge. It also has slightly larger buttons than the Nokia. They can be bought online from £5-£20 on Pay as you go.0
