Sorry Clare, didn't mean to sound obtuse.
Try a compression program like winzip (there's tonnes of them), which compresses and parcels your Powerpoint presentation into a smaller "zip" package. Windows XP has the ability to extract and unzip it back to it's orginal size and others can then play it.
