HSBC Advance Card - Help!!

Have been looking at the HSBC Advance card, as we go abroad regularly I'm not sure if you get charged for cash withdrawals with this card - Info states
As an HSBC Advance customer, you won't have to pay a transaction fee to HSBC if you withdraw cash from an ATM abroad or if you use your Visa debit card to pay for goods and services.
However, please note that all foreign currency exchange rates shown on your statement against each transaction are inclusive of an exchange rate adjustment charge, which is currently 2.75%. And even though we won't charge you, some cash machine operators may apply a direct charge for withdrawals from their cash machines.
Help is it free I do I get charged 2.75% for each withdrawal?

I was in Germany twice recently (one work and one Oktoberfest woohoo!) and using bank atm machines (ie "free") I didn't get charged once (unlike my mate hahah) - but like it says you do sort of get charged because they use their own exchange rate.
For example; CASH INGDIBA ATM
MUENCHEN
EUR 100.00
@ 1.1636
£85.94
which was a better exchange rate than my other friend got at the FX counter in M&S for example. It's a bit confusing really
Just out of interest can you look at my thread, had any problems?
