Vodafone or o2
Options
I have a locked nokia 6300 and am currently on o2 - I pay £10 per month for 30 texts but have today changed to unlimited texts and 100 minutes - staying on pay as you go - as long as you top up the £10 per month.
However, I have found that Vodafone do a 12 month contract sim only for £10 per month 300 minutes and unlimited texts. Which obviously is better but are vodafone better than o2? I have good reception with my phone while others who come round that don't have nokias and aren't on o2 do not.
What do you think? I'd have to pay to get the 6300 unlocked too. Is it worth trying the Vodaphone? I'd like to keep my old number so wouldn't be able to switch back.
Thoughts, feelings, opinions on o2 or vodafone?
Thank yooooooou

PS how do we feel about giffgaff - they seen too good to be true!!! Do they have any coverage?0

Giffgaff coverage is exactly the same as o2.
Vodafone are OK network wise (on the whole, check your locality first with a PAYG sim, or friends phone) the customer service isn't too great though. Try getting a retention deal from o2?0 -
Thanks lozzaman - i did contact the retention people at o2 but they simply conceded that the vodafone was better and gave me the PUK code!!!
Can I keep my o2 number with giffgaff and would the phone need unlocking??0 -
it's okay answered my own question there. Thanks0

Just a thought - if u do go to Vodafone - try the cashback sites as you should get something back, I use Quidco mainly, but topcashback may do vodaphone as well and see who gives you the best deal xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Yes, o2 phones work with GiffGaff SIMs and yes you can port your number over
If you want a GiffGaff sim with £5 credit when you activate feel free to PM me0 -
The reason i've been looking at new tariffs is because I have spent £20 already this month for some reason!!!!
I've changed (for the time being) to the simplicity £10 tariff on o2 but they took my credit off straight away. I used to have 300 texts but the credit decreased once the texts had been used or i made calls or i sent a picture message. this new one just takes the £10 off your credit. This means I only pence to send picture messages (which i do rarely but did do).
I feel like i've been juped - this is like having a contract really, as i will have to top up more to do something other than talk (for the 100 minutes) and text.
I've been PAYG for years and years and this has thrown me. Is the way PAYG is now?
Sorry for being a doofus. Ta0 -

You mean PAC
I had a feeling that might be the case. o2 used to make really good (stupidly good) retention deals. I left when the deals got poor (though main reason was the lack of data allowances then and very poor 3G)
You could give Giffgaff a go. Someone here will know if they have got the porting issues sorted.0 -
Vodafone is fine until anything goes wrong.0

Hi again.
I have recently got an iphone 3g (unwanted gift - free yey) and i promptly popped my o2 sim in and was loving the texting etc but was perturbed to find my credit going down even though i'd made no calls and only went on the internet when i was home and so using my (modem's) wifi.
I sent a message asking why my credit was going down and they said it was because i was using the internet and perhaps i should consider the text and web tariff.
I've asked about the text and web tariff to see if surfing using my home wifi (not the phone's 3G) would use some of the 500mb allowance. They said yes because it was using the o2 sim card!!!
Why then when I put my registered but uncredited giffgaff sim in does it still allow me to go on the internet?
And how does my ipod go on the internet? Can the iphone not work the same way as the ipod when you are on a wifi connection and charge you or use your allowance if you are using the 3G?
Hope this makes sense and that someone can explain it to me. Seems odd and beneficial to the phone companies.
Cheers
C0
