    Ha!

Hell of a co-incidence, because I did short something today. I have a trivial (but fun) CFD account. As you alluded to, FTSE did well and I got up to three (£1 a time) positions on it. Having sold out two, and banked about £125 profit, I left the remaining one on in case I could squeeze a few more shillings out.

Sure enough, another £15 profit - well after the close - and on the back of Dow still going up.

So I hit the button to sell it, bank the profit, and go and have a large G&T.

Idiot that I am, my order sheet was still set at £2, so I not only closed my £1 long, but opened another £1 short!!!

Bigger idiot that I am, I took a few minutes to analyse what I had done, and then closed it out at a £3 loss; Only to notice that had I left it and come back after my G&T, I could have made another £10 on the short!

    Ain't life a b!tch sometimes?

Im net long overall but I do have a couple shorts, I keep expecting them to do better then they have done but they keep getting shorter :o At this rate I will be forced to agree gordon brown eliminated boom and bust,

India mostly closes before ftse so will rally in time for your breakfast most likely. FTSE on weds afternoon will go with the usa market which probably wont go up so well two days in a row. 1161 and 5660 are the numbers to beat tommorow

I think HSBC has another 12p leeway before it either has to surge up or more likely fall again like it has since 2006. HSBC is 8.6% of the ftse 100

    Probably right, Sabretooth.

But watch for Euro-Zone GDP at 10:00, and the US Employment figures at 1:15.

After a brilliant September, I'm getting rather ill-at-ease, wondering if there's another shoe to drop between now and year end. Any views?

PS I don't think Gordon did quite eliminate boom and bust. You may be confusing what he definitely did do - save the world!

I've got a whole cupboard full of baked beans which has so far paid off nicely though not without some risk to the ozone layer.
