Do Not Buy Currys Product Support

  • Just a quick question - is this normal to issue a refund less than the purchase price? My friends bought a tv for 369GBP but after the tech guys failed to fix and tv was written off the've got a voucher for 329GBP They bought the tv about 8 months ago. Also on the voucher states they should get another specific tv. Does is it mean they can spend the voucher only on the tv named in the voucher and can they get the cash value from Currys if they don't want the named tv? Ok more than a quick question but hope you can help. Thank you!

The voucher will be issued for the cost of an equivalent specification product. You can use the voucher and add some to it to get a higher spec product, but you can't, for example, use a voucher for a TV to buy a laptop.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

yea it is. They will give you the current 'value' of the tv. In other words the amount it would cost to replace it with one of a similar specification and age.

Nope, just similar spec. It would be for a new TV.

  • Thank you both! The intention is to replace the tv not buy a laptop :)
