I've lived her for 1year 5months and haven't paid an electricity bill yet every time i've rung them they say they can't find the meter. (It's on my house, so i know i have one). I last gave them a meter reading in Dec'05 and still haven't heared from them they are still looking for the meter.

Has anyone had a simmular problem and can they back date the charges.

Hope someone can help with this!!!!!

They can backdate your bill for 2 years.

However you say that when you have called them they cannot find your 'Meter'. Is it a new build property you are in if so have you tried supplying them your Electricity Supply Number?

Also do you have gas if so are you recieving bills for that and are they from Powergen?

if you want PM me your details and I will check for you tomorrow - I work for powergen so can see if I can find your details for you if I can then i will reply tomorrow for you with the details you need to give to them to bring the details for the property up - If it was a new build can you also provide the plot number as well :)

Yes it's a new build and i've given all the numbers required and still no luck, i have a gas meter but that's with british gas, I don't think it very fair if i'm doing all the run around and wasting phone bills and call powergen all the time. Last time i did speak to them they said they would take it from Dec, spos i'd better ring them again
  • I know its a pain but its upto you to do it..sorry :O( ask BG to take it over for ya..PM me I can sort it during office hours... < Waits for the axe to be thrown at me from Gal...>

Was your gas already with bgas or did you transfer over to them when you moved in?

Lol I have no problems with you taking it, I will forward my e-mail address onto you incase you get any issues (If powergen are responsible ;)

I'll sort out my E-mail tomorrow as its recently changed from powergen to an eon account - As mentioned before (in the other post) not sure if its .net or .com

Once I get it checked I will let you know :)

I asked BG to take mine over for me when i first moved in (11 months ago) and they wanted a deposit of 100 (quite a lot at the time, im 23 and had just bought my first house - didnt need any extra expenses) for a monthly electricity spend of approx 15 pounds. Letter said 'if you disagree ring us and we can negotiate'. Called up and was told it was non-negotiable and the letter is incorrect.

That was the last time i'll ever speak to them... I dont appreciate being lied to.

Gas has always been with bgas the funny thing is they billed the builders no problem but i think something happened when transfering it too me
  • Hmm...
First time i have heard of such a letter, however they will have asked for a deposit due to being a new customer, if we cant credit track you or you have a bad credit history there is nothing they can do....Possbily someone was trying to help you, but they are right it is non negotiable, also I should imagine you wanted to pay as 1/4 billing instead of direct debit..and that is the fastest way for a new customer to be asked for a deposit, however you do get it back after 12 months...

It is too protect the company, it is owed millions by bad debts and unfortunatly its effects us all
