Hi All
I'm taking my wife away for a romantic weekend watching Man United on 16 October! We're staying at City Inn thanks to tesco clubcard points, and would be most grateful for any tips or recommendations on eating/drinking/other entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening.
Thanks

Best advice for Manchester? Don't go there. Failing that, get off the street by 7pm. It's a very noisy, drunken and violent city.
Places to eat? Depends what you want. There's suprisingly little. A few Italian. There are French, Spanish and Turkish restaurants on Deansgate. Chinatown is definately not what it was, some of it is now awful. The famous Curry Mile is now the Curry 25 yards and with one exception dishes up the same stuff you can get anywhere.

A few suggestions without knowing your tastes or budget:
Akbars - Fantastic curry place opposite the museum of science and industry. A short walk to deansgate locks for drink or have a quite one in the ox, knotts or atlas bar.
Papa G's - Greek restaurant in the printworks. A bit like a chain in terms of price etc but one of only two restaurants so much better quality!
Taurus - One the edge of canal street but a great little menu, nice wine menu and an open and friendly atmosphere whatever your sexuality.
Abode - Near Piccadilly station. Not eaten there myself yet but its owned by Micheal caine (TV chef) and has a good reputation.
Let me know if there is anything specific you fancy or want an opinion on.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback
2014 Free Money - £59.84 Topcashback
2015 Free Money (so far) - £186.33 Topcashback0 -

Thanks for suggestions, I suppose type of food isn't important as we're into lots, Italian, oriental, mediterranean, anything really a long as its good, and don't mind paying as long as we get value for our money, but cheap and cheerful or byo is always great!!!
I saw a post elsewhere mentioning that offer at the Hilton, is it worth going there for the views alone? A cocktail before dinner is a nice touch too, might be a goer for Friday night. I also saw the Charlatans and Doves are both playing gigs on Saturday night, might think about going there. Might be on my own by then!!!0 -
If you would like something a little special and great atmosphere..try here
http://www.sancarlo.co.uk/Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
