This question has probably been asked before, if so, apologies.

Suppose one books an 'advance' single ticket from A to C, with a change of trains at B. This requires the specification of a start time for the train from A to B, and this choice gives a start time for the train from B to C.

The train from A to B is late, therefore I miss the specified train from B to C.

What can I do now? Can I take the next available train from B to C without paying any more, since it isn't my fault I couldn't catch the specified B to C train?

Yes you can - in most circumstances anyway.

There might be the odd exception - for example if your ticket was Cross Country only you might have to wait for the next XC train rather than the next other TOC train

A useful reference giving the details of what is permissible:-

From Beckenham Junction it's £31.30 total for the two of you - change at Bromley South and Sittingbourne

From London it's £33 - plus another £5.50 if you use the high speed line from St Pancras

Those are off peak return fares - buy on the day
  • excellent thats what i was getting but didnt know if there was a cheaper way

With regards to that southern £14.50 day ticket, could it be used potentially to go from Southampton to Milton Keynes staying on just southern trains (changing at east Croydon)?

I just fancy a day out.

Not sure which ticket at £14.50 you are talking about, but if you mean the £14.00 Off Peak Daysave then yes you can.
  • I booked advance ticket from Cardiff Central to Eastbourne. !The changes for all the cheap advance tickets are either Paddington - London Bridge or Paddington - Victoria.

I brought the London Bridge one because I knew the Victoria route is impossible in a wheelchair. It since turns out BOTH of these routes are wheelchair inaccessible they have offered me a refund and told me to make alternative travel plans. !I have investigated alternative routes and they are all going to cost me at least £30 more than the ticket I had that it is their fault I can't use due to their lack of access.

The ONLY reason I can not travel with this ticket the prescribed route is because the chosen stations to change trains at are wheelchair inaccessible. Which means as a wheelchair user I am unable to ever purchase the cheapest possible ticket between these two stations. This seems discriminatory to me. I feel it would be a reasonable adjustment that they should honour the ticket I have paid for by any reasonable route between the two stations I can get my wheelchair between (Reading then Gatwick) because both of their options are denied me. !

Do I have the right to argue this?

You can get from Paddington to Victoria by bus step free then the rest is simple

I think it's free for wheelchair users
