I bought my car without seeing it!
It was a big dealer in birmingham and they had the Sport version of the Peugeot 207 CC but same dealer - a lot further away had the GT version i wanted
Rang up and agreed a price (got £750 ish off the price and 6 months tax) and got them to deliver it to their birmingham garage.
Had to agree the sale and pay deposit before they would deliver it to local garage tho. Then just had to go in sort out the finance paperwork and drive it home :)

I saw and went for a test drive in the sport version when going to the dealer so knew it was what I wanted tho!

I bough an old Mondeo as it was advertised as "needs work"....Other than a tatty condition, the only work it needed was to the rear wash/wipe! Talk about what NOT to put in an advert if you want to sell a car! Only paid £200 too!

lol aye .. i paid 155 for my fez needed a plate welding on the sill (cost me nothing) a lambda sensor and back box (50 for both)

Only time I've bought a car unseen was when the car was located in Hokkaido and the cost of going to view it would be more than any fault that could be reasonably expected to happen.

I wouldn't do it when buying from the UK as sellers are a lot less scrupulous over here.

I could never buy a car without a test drive and casting my eyes over every aspect of the car. Its bad enough that most dealers only give you a 20min test drive, which gives you no real idea how it handles on different roads, can you get golf clubs, kids shopping in easily etc, is it comfy, has it all the toys I need etc etc

I bought two cars in 2009 without driving them.

Mazda2 and Mazda6 estate both bought new. We looked at them and made sure they were big enough for us but didn't bother with test drives. All the reviews said they were nice to drive. My experience with Mazdas made me confident of their reliability. They have proven to be excellent cars and exceeded my expectations.

Two lease cars never even went to a dealer to test drive them just had them delivered to the door.

Three Cat D write offs (two from down south and one collected in W Lothian).

As for test driving new cars I'm not in the market for a Bugatti etc and the rest are pretty much the same especially the euro boxes.
  • i've done it but would caution against it
    :D
  • You may find that a reputable dealership wouldn't do that deal with you anyway
