Confused about Tesco Credit Card and points

Hiya, wondering if someone could clear up for me a question on the Tesco Credit Card. It says

  • Collect 1 Clubcard point for every £4 you spend on your Clubcard Credit Card anywhere in the world.
  • Plus, your card doubles as a Clubcard. So when you use your Clubcard Credit Card to pay at Tesco, not only will you get 1 point for every £4 you spend, you will also collect standard points from Clubcard!
From here http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/finance/creditcards/index.jsp

My question is, if I go into a Tesco store and I spend £20 with a Tesco Credit Card, and I also scan my Tesco Clubcard, what happens?

Scenarios 1 and 2 are assuming you can't use a Clubcard AND a Tesco Credit Card together on the same transaction, i.e. you can only earn points on one of them. So

1. I get 40 points on my Clubcard and 5 points on my Credit Card.
2. I get 0 points on my Clubcard and 45 points on my Credit Card.

Scenario 3 is assuming you can use both together

3. I get 40 points on my Clubcard and 45 points on my Credit Card.

Which is it?? Or none of the above??

Thanks for any help!

Wont make any difference. There is no point scanning your clubcard and using your credit card to pay together. Your credit card and clubcard are linked to 1 clubcard account. So no matter what way you do it, you will still get 40 clubcard points for shopping in Tesco and 5 clubcard points for using your credit card to pay.

Also, you can use your Tesco credit card in Tesco just for use as your clubcard only. Just say to the cashier that you just want the points only and not pay with your card. In theory, you don't really need your standard clubcard at all!

First the easy part Option 3 - does not apply.

Not everyone has their Credit card linked to an ordinary clubcard, they may or may not be linked.

So if you give a Clubcard, your CC points may go to one CC a/c., then pay with your Cr CC and your finance points go to your Cr CC a/c. However the total points will be the same, if of course you only use your Credit card then both types of points will be attached to it.
A word of caution, best use a clubcard first at the pay@pump rather than just the Credit CC - on-going technical problem!
Another one - if you use a keyring card - know that it is 'yours' rather than give the points to somebody else (though that may be the OH)!

They don't have to be. I have kept mine seperate. Scan key fob first then pay with credit card. Tesco points go on clubcard account, finance points on credit card account.

I then get 2 sets of vouchers quarterly which can be used together as are all in my name, but it means I also get 2 sets of bonus vouchers and both cards on registered for healthy eating and wine clubs

I clearly hadn't thought this through as I had been using the Clubcard and Clubcard CC :o. Only on petrol though, used OHs Clubcard on shopping and then paid with Clubcard CC. Will have to start doing that with fuel as well.

Just wondering if there will no more accumulating of CC points and redeem as wanted?

Must be used once reached 150 points?

How about the christmas saver then? can I opt for Christmas saver and top up the maximum amounts and then used the top up for deals?

    1) Points are accumulated, and then at least four times a year e.g. Feb., May, Aug., & Nov., the points are converted into cash vouchers which are posted to the address that CC have.
    2) You cannot use your points, only the cash vouchers.
    3) You will get a voucher at your registered address provided you have reached a minimum of 150 pts.
    4) You may accumulate points, with Xmas Club, but you won't get vouchers next year till Nov., and the last day for 'top-ups' is the 15th Oct. (and as has been said not for deals).
