DFW winter birthdays and special occasions

Hi,
Just a thought, reading about lynzpower's birthday yesterday (hope you had a great day btw!) and thinking how mine is coming up next month- I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how someone can celebrate without spending any (or spending very minimal) money? It'd be really nice to do something other than sit in watching telly in the dark with a plate of economy baked beans on toast!
Summer special occasions seem easier somehow- free festivals, day at the beach, picnics in the park. Winter's all a bit miserable really.
What are the other winter babies doing?

if i had a proper winter birthday rather than a piddly autumn one i'd go out sledging and snowballing and make snow angels. in fact when i'm drunk on sat i might just pretend it's snowing and throw mud balls! :rotfl:
  • ha! you could make mud pies too maybe?

My Birthday is on Christmas Eve, so generally things close early... every year I go home to my folks, have a nice homemade dinner with my Mum and then go get ratted at this lovely pub in my hometown that has a late license. Not very debt free ;) My actual birthday day is usually spent wrapping presents too.

But yes - Birthday Dinner parties are they way ahead, especially if you make them wintery with hot toddies, chestnuts, smells of cinnamon etc. Of course, it's always nice when it snows. Trips to all year things, like Snowscape, ice skating etc don't have to cost too much really.

My birthday's 17th Dec but I haven't really celebrated it since I was 18 - although I usually get a few cards and a pressie from hubby and my parents. My own fault I guess for being a really overdue baby and having a birthday a week before Xmas!
    :heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:

awww :( My ma, when I was younger, put all the presents under the tree on Christmas eve and let me pick one to open as a birthday present, leaving the rest until Christmas day. Some years i did good (Gameboy, etc) other years I sulked (3 x grey knickers). x
  • mine is on the 31st of december, and i do nothing lol, just sit on the pc or go for a walk, but this year is my 21st and mums taking me for a meal and i think i am going to have my first ever alcoholic drink :rotfl: winter birthdays are pants, they are boring 'forgetable' affairs

Winter = cobnuts. I love cobnuts! And warm beetroot!

    I'm a tad food obsessed.
  • what are cobnuts?
