Not quite sure who you are addressing with the '!!!!!ing and preaching' comments

Not you personally ;) (sorry didn't make that clear) - was just the tone the thread had taken since 'the glitch' (well the second glitch I mean)

Molton Brown Stats from last audited accounts
    Annual turnover: £59,403,000.00
    Annual profit: £9,620,000.00
    Turnover per employee: £86,091.30
    Profit per employee: £13,942.03
    Number of staff: 690
    Total spent on wages: £12,904,000.00
    Average staff pay: £18,701.45 *
    Number of directors: 20
    Directors' remuneration: £288,000.00

Molton Brown are a massive company with a huge turnover and very healthy profits - this is not going to break them or ruin them! This is not a sole trader on a hard pressed high street. They will have techy experts who are able to fix this. This last glitch is clearly a mistake and this must happen from time to time with companies this large they will have a contingency for that. However the other discounts were vouchers that could be used together and they will have properly assessed the cost to themselves before undertaking the promotion. They will gain other benefits from the promotion - ie increased brand awareness, increased custom, repeat custom etc. Its no different than them having a huge ad campaign that would cost thousands more than this. They are not a small company living on the edge they wouldve known what they were doing. We are getting in to presuming they are panicking - if a large company like this was worried in anyway they wouldve pulled the site offline to fix it or they wouldve cancelled orders.

This was a lovely thread and so friendly and helpful lets keep a grip on the fact this is a large company not a small sole trader that is being ripped off and put out of business. They may be delighted that they are able to promote their brand to a wider audience. This isnt the place to presume or judge its a place for BARGAINS! Dont shoot me down in flames either I just wanted to help put this in context so people dont have to feel upset.

Nice post Bexster:) I'm sure you're right. This was my first introduction to MB and I will certainly give them repeat business in future as their products are really nice.

I am sooo grateful for this thread :D
Over the past week or so i have spent a total of £72.80 for £154 worth of items. That's a massive saving of £81.20. I have used 3 coupons from the Marie Claire magazine in my local store and placed 3 orders in total online.

It means my family and friends will get some fab presents and i will get 1 or maybe 2 shower gels out of it.

Precisely which is about a 50% discount - their profit margins are way more than 50% so they are still making money. So dont feel bad!x

No problem - this will be what MB aimed for without a doubt. It will have been a loss leader for them and Marie Claire will have given them free advertising or something like that as part of the deal. They are hugely successful and definitely know what they are doing. Their staff are well paid and extremely well trained their shops are beautiful and they have a well established brand. This promotion was probably part of their strategic marketing plan to introduce new people to MB.
  • Totally agree M and B have had great publicity over this glitch, I recieved my orders promptly today and they are lovely, my family will have some really nice pressies this year thanks to everyone here, I would never usually be able to afford Molton and Brown stuff however I think they have been very honourable in their actions with this glitch. As I loved my things so much thought I'd have a look for something for my hubby this christmas and a new glitch arose a £20 discount appeared instead of the Marie Claire one for £10, means that they've just recieved another order from me!!!!:j:j:j:j:j:j

    I've been Money Tipped!
This has deffo been one of the best threads ever - I've sorted out three fab pressies and only spent £9.90!! This has allowed me to spread the MB love, which to be honest, I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Would have liked to have got something for myself before the glitch ended, but I'm not complaining - i know that there are going to be three very happy ladies on Christmas morning and that's good enough for me!! :T
    I love Frazzles!
