PPI from old accounts - advice please!!

I'm thinking of trying to reclaim PPI from credit cards/loans that I've had in the past and have just got my records from Experian. Trouble is, although they list the cards/loans I've had they don't give the account details and I'm wondering if there's any way I can find these out. For example, would Capital One, Egg etc. still have records of credit cards I held with them 4 or 5 years ago and if they do are they obliged to tell me? If anyone can give me some advice on how to start I'd be really, really grateful! Thanks in advance!!

Hi there
They should hold your data for the last 6 years, so you could request a subject access request (SAR), you enclose £10 cheque or postal order and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
SAR letter template letter here:

If you had loans with the same bank, then you only require one SAR, but for other companies, you will need to send separate SAR's.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Ah, I have another question! I have debts to some credit card companies and I'm in a debt management plan with PayPlan. Is there some reason I can't try and reclaim PPI from those companies that are being dealt with through the DMP? I think I heard that somewhere but maybe I got it wrong? Thanks again in advance for any advice anyone can give!!0

Hi and your welcome
You can still make a reclaim and not only that the ppi is now worthless if your on a payment plan, and does not help the debt, you can cancel this as well, however if successful, it may be possibly the case they will refund the ppi towards the debt - arrears and anything remaining plus interest should be awarded to you.
You still pursue the ones who sold you the policy. Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I was wondering if i could claim ppi from my debt management company as they have been charging me between 12 and 20 pound a month for the last 5 years..
Hi there
The same here as I posted in the above post. But you do not pursue the debt management company for the ppi, you still pursue the bank or company who sold you the policy.
It soon adds up doesn't it?
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

You are a star - thank you for answering so quickly! This is great news - am going to go for it wholeheartedly. I don't even mind if the ones in the DMP refund the PPI to the debt - it all helps!! I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again!0
