BT Broadband Cease Charge increase from £25 to £30

We’re changing the Broadband Cease Charge. We also want to remind you about the advanced security and computer help software that come free with your BT Total Broadband Option 3 – helping you and your family have a safer and trouble free time online.
  • Broadband Cease Charge

If you decide to move your broadband service from BT Retail, it’s important to use the Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) process. If you stop your BT broadband and don’t use the MAC, you’ll be charged. From 12 November 2010, we’re increasing this charge from £25 to £30. Most service providers use the MAC process.
More about Broadband Cease Charge. (All other broadband charges stay the same.)

    Thanks for the heads up.
It reinforces the need to use the Media Authorisation Code when moving between ISPs.

    *Pedant Alert*

You can have a Media Access Control (MAC) address (network hardware identifier) or a Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) (Migrate between ISPs) but not a Media Authorisation Code

You should have obtained a MAC from your old ISP, BT would then get the costs back from your new ISP

In which case you should recover it from your new ISP.

BT Open Reach do the work in the exchange for all the other suppliers.
So if you swap from one ISP to another BT do the work and charge for it.
When the MAC system is used the new ISP picks up the charge.
If you haven't used a MAC you do.
