  • Yeah the receipt has got the address on it, I am just about to goto the PO so will see what they say but I think I would feel better if I resend it, I guess this time I would have to pay for Special!

If you pay for special deilvery then you will know that it has been deilvered and will have proof or you could try and send it recorded again. I use recorded deilvery all time and I have had only one letter that has not been deilvered so it is good most of the time.
  • Yeah I spoke to RM and they said that the larger companies might not sign for the Special even but I would feel better if I send it via that and will claim all the postage back if not.

No sign of the cheques being cashed yet either, I will get the letter sent AGAIN via Special RM!

    it shouldnt matter
if the delivery office is using the 'old' method
then signature items are scanned in the office and a print out is produced
2 copies are printed and both signed by the recipient(or agent for them)
one is retained by the delivery office and sent away with all other proof of signatures for scanning
if they cant upload it i dont see why they cant provide a physical copy of thew proof of signature

if they are using the 'new' method
then all items are scanned at the delivery point on a PDA and signed for (one sig for multiple items)
this is then uploaded in real time to the RM track and trace site

if neither of the above methods are being adhered to then the delivery office is failing to follow delivery protocols
  • Thanks Custardy yeah I see what you are saying but Royal Mail dont always ask you to sign I have received more than one recorded del in the past and not been asked to sign for it!

and thats a failure in delivery protocol
CS shouldnt be saying deliveries to big companies dont always get a signature as if its just the way it is
there are systems in place to obtain a signature no matter how many items are delivered
  • Yeah Royal Mail are shocking and get worse, some days we recieve our mail as late as 4pm! But normally its 2pm!

unfortunatly im not going to berate them for the time of mail delivery

people want modernisation and machine sorting(with staff cuts)
well machine sorting takes time(yes its not faster!)
a few years back you may recall delivery staff werent happy about 6am starts but the public didnt see an issue
well a 6am start on an 8 hour shift means a 2pm finish
so someone is going to get their mail at 2pm
my old office is about to change start times again
depending on the postcode delivered to its a 6.30am/7am/8am start with corresponding finish times

theres the pre privitisation future many have been baying for ;)
