Cheapest way to call a UK mobile from abroad?

Hi, this isn't 100% on topic but what is the cheapest way to call a UK mobile from abroad? I gather it isn't possible to call a 0844 number from abroad... is it possible to call a 'landline' number and then connect to the 0844 number through that?

Cheapest way depends on what your calling from landline or mobile.

No you cant access a 0844 number from another access number.

Actually I think you probably can ...

I just did, with Voipfone, and other VoIP providers probably will too

From abroad, use a callback service such as theirs, or from landlines or foreign SIMs with cheap calls (3~10p) to UK landlines, call a London access number that does have callthrough access to 0844 numbers. In the case of Voipfone, you need to have registered your caller ID on the account.

Not sure how this 'call back' service works? can you explain in more detail? any link to website? Can they be used with IoM global roaming sims? I call the UK from spain using an IoM sim and it sounds like their must be a cheaper way than using their service...

Any details appreciated
