I have been lucky enough to see two previews this week, following quite a drought.
Thor was a bit of a disappointment to me - having seen the great reviews I think maybe I was expecting a little too much from it. I also found the 3D element detracted from rather than added to the picture.
I just loved Water for Elephants though, it was right up my street and proves again that Rob P isn't just a (very) pretty face! A very classy movie.0 -
I wasn't really expecting to enjoy this, but after quite a dry spell for free screenings, I was just happy for a cheap night out !
What a thoroughly good film.
Both Witherspoon and Pattinson took me by surprise.
She for underplaying her part, he for..... being a revelation !
What a great little actor!!
The story when you analyse it later is quite far-fetched and virtually so unbelievable/cliched as to be a fairy story.
Yet I was completely sucked into the film and accepted all the coincidences and flukes in the story line without a qualm.
No getting away from Pattinsons good lucks, but instead of being a teenage pin-up role, he plays an absolute blinder.
Witherspoon is 35, Pattinson 24.... yet thanks to make-up and both their acting, this is not about an older woman and her toy-boy.
( Ok and Witherspoon is stunningly beautiful and has a figure to die for..... after 2 chilldren as well !!)
I was sooooo into the film, that when people 3 rows back were scrunching up bags at a very quiet and intense moment in the film..... I was within a hairs breath of turning around and hitting them with my "withering look" of contempt.
Not done that for a long time !!!
Feedback wanted a one word description, DS said "Heartwarming"
I had a really enjoyable evening...... yet another example of going to a film I wouldn't necessarily have paid to go and see, and being very glad that I did.
8.5 out of 10 from the Baggie household;)
p.s and Waltz was excellent as well, and DS wants our own Rosie0 -
Not a fan of Pattinson, but he did well, quiet a surprise!
3 free movies this week :j0 -
My daughter and boyfriend were supposed to be seeing "Water for Elephants" at York Vue this morning, looking forward to seeing this all week but for some unknown reason they only put it on at a small 124 seater screen so they could not get in“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0

I have been in smaller screenings than that before...... but if it was the cinema manager changing the planned venue from a larger to smaller screening, it may be work contacting SFF or whoever you got the tickets via and letting them know.
I complained to Disney when we couldn't get into one of their previews. Disney explained the cinema management had made a last minute decision to change to a smaller screening, and therefore it was not actually Disneys fault. But as a gesture of good will they sent me 4 free tickets :j0 -
We saw "Water for Elephants" on Tuesday at Southampton & have to say I was expecting more due to the preview & comments.
It was ok but not a Wow for us. Still a lovely free night out which we rarely get, so not complaining! ;o)
We sat in the premier seats as the cinema was only 1/3rd full! Got a feedback email survey to fill out for this film, unlike the "Limitless" one we last saw?0 -
Four of us travelled 25 miles to see the preview of Water for Elephants at York Vue this morning. We, along with others, got turned away after being told the film had been over subscribed. What a dissappointment, a waste of time and petrol.0

Saw Water for Elephants this morning AMAZING beautifully shot. Oscars all round.
Also saw Thor with Virgin Media on Tuesday and they handed out free popcorn. Can any one let me know if this happens at all Virgin Media previews0
