Giving your IMEI out for an Unlock
Hello everyone
I posted a deal for a cheap payg phone and mentioned that if it wasn't unlocked you could email your IMEI (phone serial number) to an ebay seller who will give u the unlock code.
I have done this many times with no problems but a forum user said that they would never give their IMEI to anyone!
What do we all think?

I don't see a reason for not giving it out. Its just a serial number that is constructed using a simple procedure that also identifies handset make and model.
There isn't anything you can do with it that would cause a major problem. You can't run up a bill on someone else's account or get their details. And if someone wanted to use an IMEI for something, its far easier just to generate one than obtain one from a person.0 -
Your not going to get the phone unlocked without giving it.
If anyone did clone your IMEI it would be very easy to prove it was yours as it's logged by the network every time the phone's switch on, so your history would show that it was yours.0 -

You can AND I have. Check out some of the feedback on eBay unlockers if u are adamant you can't.PLAY GOOD!
