We checked in online last time (last November) with Easyjet and got "A" category boarding cards, but this time (for this week) again I checked in online ages ago, and don't have "A" this time - so maybe the boarding process has changed? I think mine might have something to do with the age of my child (she is 9), as Easyjet have changed their rules since our last flight with them.

I don't think I can check in online as I didn't book direct with them - so my booking doesn't show online. Unless I'm missing something??

My wife and I have never bought speedy boarding, and not once have we been separated. We've taken maybe 10 flights in the last 2-3 years. My tip is to head for the rear door, and head for the 1st row of seats without anyone else on. We've even got emergency exit seats (extra legroom) on two occasions.

Ressurecting this thread as we are flying with easyjet to Malaga in the summer - first time our kids have ever flown - 3 kids (all over 5)!!!

We really dont want to all be separated - dont mind if 2 with Dad and 1 with me .... but would hate the thought of one of the kids having to sit away from either of us.

What is general experiences - should I pay the £55 for speedy boarding, is it actually worth it ?

Flying out of Belfast if it makes any difference to the way they board the flight...... ?

    THANKS

The cabin crew won't want any of your children sitting away from their parents mainly because of this http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=1770&pagetype=90&pageid=9855 there is no need to pay for speedy boarding.

I have flown several times with my children (they are now 13, 10 and 8) and never paid for the speedy boarding. That said we do get to the airport in plenty of time and make sure that we find out which gate the plane is likely to go from and set up camp in the vicinity.

We have always been able to sit together.

And whenever I have been on a plane, there has always been somebody who moved to accommodate a family that got on late.

My nuclear option -if we ever got on at the back of the line, and folks wouldn't do the decent thing is to have the kids play up a bit when they sit down next to a stranger.

My prepared lines go along the lines of "I'm sorry sir but he suffers from a bit of ADHD. If he starts throwing a tantrum I'll be sitting somewhere over there. Not sure where at the moment. Bye!

You will have great fun doing role play sessions with your kids before the flight ... nose picking, flatulence, dribbling, flicking bits of picked nose in all directions. I am sure your kids will get into the spirit very quickly.

But it is highly unlikely to come to this.

Finally speedy boarding does not guarantee you getting onto the plane first. I once watched with amusement when the speedy boarders were loaded onto one bus, but another bus got to the plane first. They were not best pleased.

Hope you have a great time in Spain

Thanks Richard, that is an excellent link. I will save it and print it out in case I ever need it.

I think we will still do the role-playing games before the flight though.:D

Thats great - thank you so much - will print this off just to have with me!! My kids are pretty sensible but wouldnt be nice if we were all separated the first time we fly ..... esp as flight prob lasts about 2 1/2 hours! Plus £55 for speedy boarding will be better in holiday fund as i am sure it will be needed in Spain ..... imo.
