Boiler breakdown cover

Dont know if this is the right board-sorry,we have cover with Homeserve,just gone up £5.00 per month,now paying £33.00 per month for boiler cover,plumbing and drain problems,gas supply pipe and electric probs.Does any one have cover with another company that is cheaper?

most gas,plumbing and electrical engineers would charge you that £33 per hour for a single call,so its really not a bad deal although a llot of those service or breakdown plans are not worth the paper they are written on.My advice would be to get to know your local tradesmen

Homeserve have a terrible reputation for refusing to pay for apparently legitimate claims, finding something in the small print to get out of it. I did have the same cover as you (with Homeserve) a few years ago, and luckily never had to try and claim, but having read so many reports of bad experiences I cancelled it.

Save your £396 pa (!) in a savings account and then use it to pay a local independent RGI should you need any repairs doing.

Does anybody recommend using scottish power boiler cover as part of a tarrif?
