One thing I have heard about is garages introducing LPG and making it really cheap, then when lots of people are buying it and have converted their cars they pump the prices up - so on that aspect the advice is ensure you know a good few LPG providers with consistent prices
Another thing I heard is if you get it in the morning when it's cold, you get slightly more value for money as it's sold by volume and it expands with heat.

LPG is cheap because of the duty on it, not because the "garages" are scheming. Can I help?0 -
Hi Buzbyxman,
Although I certainly wouldn't claim to be an expert on LPG, I have my own courier firm and have been using LPG vehicles for about 5 years now whereas I previously used Diesel.
The most important thing is to have the system fitted by an "LPGA Approved Installer". I should think that the nearest one to you would be ERES Ltd., 264 Maybank Road, South Woodford, London E18 1ES. Tel. 0208 993 0807. They will tell you if it can be done and give you a quote. NB I have no connection with them whatsoever.
If you're going to go ahead with it I'd recommend you have a flashlube system fitted too to protect valves and valve seats.
Don't pay too much attention to people's negative views about LPG, they're usually the ones who've never owned an LPG vehicle.
If you need any further convincing, I pay as little as 39.9p a litre for it!We shall not allow the fear of going mad to make us keep the banner of imagination at half-mast.0 -

The price has changed by 1p/litre in the last year at the garage i use. The guy who installed mine told me to fill up at night during the summer to get that extra wee bit. If you ever go foreign make sure the installer gives you an adaptor as i think european nozzles have a different fitting to uk ones (definitely different in Eire as opposed to NI)0 -
i was talking to somebody from poland the other day and it is supposed to cost around £250 fitted over there for a complete automattic system.0

Adaptors can be bought on Ebay for £10 - £20.
I do a lot of driving in France but before buying my own, filling up was easy as every garage / service station I ever used kept a stock of adaptors for foreign drivers.
As for how far you can go on a litre, it's impossible to say as my car only uses petrol to start it then switches over to gas. It's not quite as much as it would be on a litre of petrol but as it's only half the price I can live with it.We shall not allow the fear of going mad to make us keep the banner of imagination at half-mast.0 -
how do you actually get the car over to Ireland and/or mainland Europe??
I thought since you'll have a gas tank, you can't bring it on ferries or trains?0 -
They are only banned on Eurotunnel aren't they?Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0
