We've just moved from Richmond to the other side of London to Harpenden

Both are lovely towns, with excellent schools (well, primary schools in Richmond), and about 30 mins to central London, but still with a local feel and lots of countryside around.

Both are expensive though - expect to pay well above £1m for a decent house

All the areas are herts are generally nice like evrywhere there are good and bad bits.

If interested i have a house for sale in borehamwood in a couple of months!

Never quite got the studio way bit though not my cuppa tea but if you like new houses...............

Apparently i live in a dodgy area of borehamwood yet funny we never hear anything!??!? Its your own perception......wed rove by on fri and sat nights went to local boozers talked to the neighbours. Mine have been in theres for 53 years each!!!!

You can't go wrong with borehamwood if you ask me up and coming loads of investments and its half owned by the jewish who love lavishing money.

    Good luck in your hunt

If you do go for Slough just tell everyone you live in Windsor..... that's what everyone I know who lives there says..... we don't call it Windsor anymore, we call it Windsor Actually;) ).

LOL! And the people in East Peckham say they live in Dulwich!
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

I'm biased but I say Surrey is the best place to live.

    I am VERY handy for the M25 (10 mins) & M23 (5 mins) . VERY handy for Gatwick (5-10 mins) & a short drive takes you to Brighton:D .

Bluewater is not that far really, just a few junctions around the M25.
Croydon (purley way:p ) is handy & there are a few routes into London.

Yes OP Oxted is lovely, I don't live there, but my town hall is there & didn't we get stung on council tax this year, Crawleys rise is pennies:mad: .

So I would look at the small towns & villages around the M25 in Surrey, you won't regret it:D
  • Harpenden in Herts is lovely! St Albans is quite nice too.

Someone asked about Bishop’s Stortford. It is nice and good for schools prices are not cheap but there is a development just outside called St Michael’s Mead which is well served by buses into the town and station.
