But they are my next door neighbours, I KNOW that they have never used the drive. They park on the street in the daytime when the road is empty but theyve put this note on my car because obviously they are using the law to their advantage.

Not sure what extra point you're making.

The law has been explained in great detail. Either break it, or stop parking there, or get your neighbours permission....

No need to be rude, I was replying to scrummy mummys post. I understand the law, thank you.

So because they don't use it you think it's fair game ?

    Nice.

Parking issues can make ppl emotional.

I know I get VERY annoyed that next door and her visitors all park on my drive, the access road to get to my drive and the dropped kerb in front of that.

I asked nicely and what did I get, abuse. I keep hoping she'll move :(

When I thank a post in a thread I've not posted in,
it means that I agree with that post and have nothing further to add.

Considering parking is a problem, yes I think temporarily parking there should be ok knowing they dont use it. I waited for the car parked outside my house to move then went out and moved my car.

  • Completely understand your frustration tiff. They may be completely within their rights legally, but it doesn't stop their behaviour from being inconsiderate, particularly if parking space is in short supply.

I wont be parking there in future...
Best option. He will have had to pay the Council for the work involved in his dropped kerb ( assuming he, rather than a previous owner, had it done)

You have taken action over him not complying with planning issues and he is now bringing it to your attention that your own actions (albeit temporary ones) contravene other laws. Standard cheesed off neighbour ping - pong.;) Don't give him the pleasure.

a short note is always more agreeable than an expensive fine and towing or clamping.

circumstances change and maybe they are annoyed that their visitors cannot park because cars are blocking their drive and they dont want to have to beg each time to have a car removed.

maybe they are victims of copy cat illegal parking.

maybe they are annoyed that their drive is block when there are parking spaces.

maybe they think the problem is selfish households with 2 or 3 cars.

the fact they may have let you before should be something to be grateful for rather than vindicative and vent spleen.

Why don't you just talk to your neighbour and sort it out?
