Job done, no more daft emails for me! Thanks for the help :beer:0

Ahh! So it protects the seller to use gift, and the buyer to use it 'normally'. Well I have got an idiot bidding on something of mine who I want to block because they keep sending me ridiculous emails and don't seem legit but can't find out how to block them, (not been selling for ages) so if they win I will insist they pay using gift, then they can't scam me like I think they will do. Unless I can find the block button first.................
You cannot ask for a gift payment on ebay, it will make you look like a scammer. Blocking is easier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have been in "live chat" on ebay since I started this thread, and ebay will not say that I have no protection!!!! They are so slippery ... I'm shocked, how can such a big company have no framework for helping sellers?0
-
They are saying what is true. Paypal and Ebay require a seller to offer PP as a payment method. If a buyer opts to use this method and then disputes the item as 'not received' then unless you can provide online tracking showing delivery, PP and Ebay WILL refund the buyer.
Not a lot more I can add.0 -

Exactly as we said in our posts above. Ebay is not a terribly suitable venue for collection only items, personally I no longer sell items to be collected on there unless it is cheap enough not to worry me.
I must say I'm surprised though for ebay help to be giving accurate information, that must be a first.
The paypal on collection scam is covered here:

I have a similar query, I've sold an item on eBay for £150+ and mentioned to the buyer that he could pay in cash on collection, he has since told me that he doesn't want to pay cash and wants to use PayPal because of him collecting eBay plus points.
Can I get him to sign something? Take a photo? How can I make sure he isn't going to go home and claim it's never been received?
Thanks,___,

Can you not offer to compensate him for his loss of ebay plus points (whatever the financial equivalent is) if he pays in cash? You won't lose out as you will have no paypal fee's.0 -
I would not take a chance, NPH or not, I know someone who lost a £300 tv by letting the buyer collect after paying by paypal. Nothing would change their mind and the charge back went ahead.0

My post 4 covers the problems with either accepting it or refusing it.
If you do refuse it though just make sure you are aware that buyer can still leave you negative feedback and you still have all your fees to pay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
