Windows 7 Help required

My ex was in my house last night and I stupidly let them use the pc. To get to me he has changed the password on my Windows 7 User Account (I've no idea how as he didn't even know my exisiting password). Obviously I have asked for the new password but there's no way he's going to give it to me. Can anyone help as to how I get round this? We still have internet access as my son has a user account, but obviously this doesn't have administrator rights and I am unable to amend anything from there.

Backup data, reinstall windows from recovery partition or DVD, don't let him through the door ever again.

  • Can you ask your ex for the password?

But I agree with closed, I don't trust what may have happened to the computer. He may have put a keylogger on for instance etc. etc. So maybe reinstalling everything is the safest option.

I've put the dvd in, and the first thing it does is ask for my administrator password to allow changes to be made to the computer. Any ideas?!

You understand a reinstall will wipe all your data, photo's/music etc?

I've followed the links, but still can't continue without providing an administrator password, even to finish the downloads.

I don't mind rebooting/reinstalling if that will work. But what would I have to do for that? Would I then not need a password?

Yes, I've followed them but I can only get so far into the process on both links before it asks for an administrator password to allow changes to be made to the computer
