Pc World

Hi my problem is i bought an apple tv from pc world, only to find barely a month into using this product the optical out wasn't working correctly. After ringing PC World they claim that it isn't their problem and even though the fault was discovered not 4 days ago, they claim that they cannot replace it.
And when i spoke to the "So Called Tech Guys" (two of them)they did not know what an apple tv was they had to look it up on the internet.
Called apple and they said they will mend it but why should a big company like pc world get away with this.
thanks

They can't, your contract is with the retailer, as per the Sale of Goods Act, just remind PC world of that fact, and that it is their responsibility to effect a resolution, you do not have any contract with apple.
  • Hi thanks for the reply i did quote the sale of goods act and they just said so what nothing we can do not impressed with pc world at all i will not shop with them again.
It seems they are nice to sell you something then when you have bought an item stuff you we don't wan't to know anymore.
Hope someone from pc world reads this and maybe comment.
    thanks

Although legally you have no contract with Apple, generally their customer service goes over and above other retailers - even if you bought it from PC World i'd still contact Apple about it.
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.
  • I know how you feel.
Currently Currys have lost my TV that they took away for repair and the so called "Tech Guys" have been useless, custome services have been useless and the whole company are incompetent. It's now a month since they took the TV and two weeks since they lost it and I'm still waiting for a resolution to the situation.
Unfortunately quoting the sales of goods and services act doesn't work and it's just another case of of a big company grabbing your money and forgetting you after.
I hope you get somewhere with your problem but I think you'll be better off using Apple.

Going to de-track from the thread here and reply to your post neverforumed!

Currys/DSGi have a 28 day policy, if they can't fix your TV within 28 days they will replace/refund it. Just an FYI if you didn't know :D

The 28 starts from the day you hand it in. Includes weekends, bank holidays etc and on the 28th day.. you can say "you've had it for 28 days.. where's my TV?" (Nicely of course!)

As for the Apple TV.. yeah contact apple, they are so much more efficient at customer service and will have you up and running in no time!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

Thanks for the info, my policy when I took it out had a 21 day policy for replacement but still they carry on and ignore all their own policies and the sales of goods and services act.

Apprently there are 300 people waiting for the lost in transit department to do investigations into whats happened before they will do anything about replacing them!!

Appalling attitude, but it is just another case of a company becoming too big and not caring about what happens when it all goes wrong!!
  • I guessed it would not be just me i wonder what they would say if i sat outside with a big sign telling everybody just what they are like.
Oh where are any staff from the store im sure someone who works there must read this COME ON TECH GUYS solve our problems.
    thanks to everyone who reply

I agree with this. OP should just deal with Apple direct it will be faster and a lot less hassle. They will send a courier to collect an you should have it back by return virtually.
  • I have rang apple and arranged a date and time to take it in as i have still got apple care because its under 90 days thanks apple goodbye pc world and all sister companies i will never shop there again

Slightly off topic, but when did PC World start selling the Apple TV. I thought it was just introduced to Apple stores?
