Are house prices falling comparable to death in your world?

    Explains a LOT.

    No, that's generali.

Lower prices, what happens to supply? Mmm?

    It sure isn't....

Lower demand reduces prices, lower prices reduce supply, lower supply increases prices again.

And FTB's continue to get screwed over, as the increase in mortage rates is greater than the decrease in house prices.

And you buy mighty expensive shoes. :p:p:p

Explains all your posts about expensive TVs, though - you genuinely do believe spending money for its own sake = good. Big pat on back from Merv.

I don't think MSE is the right site for you, though...

It seems obvious that I will have to spell this out as if I was talking to a child. Your poll is going to attract an overwhelming one way answer because it's like asking someone to choose between death or a desert of their choice. Turkeys NOT voting for Xmas springs to mind.

    Only to you.

I'm going to have to explain to you as though talking to my 4 year old that falling house prices aren't actually an extreme evil comparable to death, just a normal part of the economic cycle.

    Geddit? :p

Problem is though that you appear to be no more intelligent than that 4 years old ayou refer to as you are STILL completely missing the point, which is, did you really have any expectation that a FTB might vote for anything other than lower house prices.

I was a FTB in 1990, needed 10% deposit and the IR was around 8%. (It then went up to 12%)
Is it really much worse now?

unfortunately Devon isn't a 4 year old, so you may need to explain it in crayon for him...

By, the way, wer're up to 17-0 in favour of lower house prices currently.
i voted for Lower House Prices on the poll - only because i feel sorry for you and the rest of the others that voted for them...

what a coincidence they've come out when you have a poll...

  • In my opinion that is a complex question to put in a poll like that.

E.g. If the option is 5% house price falls vs 10 years of 0.5% interest rates, I chose low interest rates. If the option is 40% house falls or 0.5% for 1 year, then I chose the lower house prices.

They are also not mutually exclusive. So I may not have to chose. My guess at the moment is some small nominal falls accompanied by low interest rates for a long time.
