Cheaper house pricesdebate is pointless with some of these people...
they just don't get it...0 -
Carolt--- House Prices Are Too High!!!! FTB's are priced out of the market!!!
Sane Person--- So what's the solution?
Carolt--- Make them pay twice as much mortgage interest! Then even fewer people will be able to afford a house, it'll be great!!!!

Hamish, I thought you were an expert in supply and demand?
Lower demand, what happens to prices? Mmm?
If you wanted to buy a pair of shoes, say, would you rather buy them for £50 (expensive shoes, no?). But sales assistant says you can get a special credit agreement to buy them, so you don't have to put them on the credit card at a higher rate.
OR would you rather wait a week, and buy them in the sale at 50% off?
Well, I think I can guess most people would think it made sense to wait a week...
Not rocket science.
And yes, I know the numbers are bigger with buying a house v buying shoes - that's why the decision is even clearer cut.0 -

No, carol politely responds to Hamish's actual point.
chucky responds with insults to try to derail discussion.
Yaaawn. Been there before. Can't be bothered.0 -
Oh look - as the poll stands, not a single FTB has voted for anything other than lower house prices.
Anyway, currently 13-0 for lower house prices (discounted sapphire as well, as she's not a FTB).

Why, will the human race collapse if house prices fall?

It's nothing to do with whether house prices will fall. Whats your next poll going to be? Death or ice cream, I think that one might end up 17:0 tooChuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

No, that's generali.Lower demand, what happens to prices? Mmm?

.
It sure isn't....
Lower demand reduces prices, lower prices reduce supply, lower supply increases prices again.
And FTB's continue to get screwed over, as the increase in mortage rates is greater than the decrease in house prices.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
