Mobile contract with free Laptop - Suggestions?
I am looking for a new mobile phone contract with a free laptop.
I am looking for the best laptop, with the cheapest contract.
I don't want a netbook, it has to be a laptop.
I am not that bothered about the phone.
I would get an 18 month contract, don't mind about texts, minutes etc, as I don't use my mobile much.
Any ideas???
Thanks!

The catch with the "free laptop" is that it is certainly not "free"!
You will typically pay about THREE times the "normal" cost of the laptop. Eg a £300 laptop will cost you about £900.0 -
I will be getting a new mobile phone contract no matter what, I have been stung by cashback redemption before and prefer to get a "free" gift.
I don't have a problem with paying the line rental because I would be paying it no matter what.
So the gift is "free" or the best option for me anyway.0 -

True but if you need both items it can be an OK deal sometimes.
However Boliston's rignt most of the time you'll pay way more for a phone and laptop deal than the phone and laptop seperate, only advantage is your spreading the cost over 18/24 months0 -
sorry but I completely disagree. You want a mobile contract with unlimited texts/lots of minutes etc, you might as well get a free gift instead of simply renewing directly with your carrier, or even worse, not renewing at all. I have had two lap tops from mobiles.co.uk over the years, excellent both times. Both were orange contracts. The catch with the "free laptop" is that it is certainly not "free"!

I have even had cashback from quidco on each one.
I was particularly impressed that each time, both the phone and the lap top was delivered next day.:beer:0 -
Ok - for a decent HP laptop, unlimited texts start at about £35 per month. That is £840 over 24 months.
I can get unlimited texts and 300 minutes for £10 per month Sim-only. (You say you don't use the phone much, so that might suffice) That is £240 over 24 months.
Simple maths say that you are paying £600 for a handset and laptop. You can, using mobiles.co.uk's site, check out the spec and cost of the lap top in question and see if it is a good deal.
Generally, you are cheaper, if the handset is not the priority, in buying your own lap top and handset and going Sim only.
But, of course, I haven't taken Quidco into account in either case and i wouldn't bank on the Quidco/Voda combination as it took me 10 months and help from a MSE contributor to get my claim settled!
At the close of play, it's your choice and what suits you best.0 -
The deals I have been looking at are around £30 to £40 per month over 18 months.
Various deals, unlimited texts, or unlimited internet, more than enough mins.....
Plus a Toshiba Laptop (£300?)
So you get a phone worth £100, laptop £300, 18 month contract ie the use of the phone.... for either £540, or £720, depending on the various contracts available. Plus the quidco cashback to take into account.
I am currently paying £25 pm on an 18 month contract anyway.
To be fair I started this thread just to see if anybody knew of any good deals with decent laptops, but it is descending into something different.
I am going to get a contract mobile phone no matter what, and the option that is best for me is to get a free gift (laptop) as I have already said.
So if anybody does know of any good deals out there, please let me know.
The best deals I have seen so far are from Beepy and affordablemobiles.
