In fact if they follow what the market is dictating then they would realise that the people who would normally buy cheap mattresses aren't really buying at the moment. But the people who would normally go for better quality mattresses arebeing more careful. This is why my vehicles go out on each trip 70 to 80% full of top of the range goods.0

Yes at the lower end of the market. That doesn't mean across the whole entire range now does it? They are a good brand, how many companies have faith in their products that much they give a 5 year guarantee?Tim_Deegan wrote: »Actually you can't recommend products that you sell any more than I can, because it could still influence people to buy products that you sell, and could bring people into your store.
How, how are they gonna find me, no phone, no name, no region and if I suggest loads of different online companies where's my benefit?Tim_Deegan wrote: »But now that the economy is better we are going to stop conning you and start telling the truth, that two sided mattresses will always last longer"?
I have never said that a 1 sided mattress will last longer then a 2 sided. BUT and it's a big BUT that is only true of mattresses that get turned regularly ie about once a month for even use.
As a general rule, people DO NOT turn their mattresses over, so a mattress that is designed one sided WILL last longer then a 2 sided mattress that is not turned. If you choose to disagree that's your opinion and you are allowed to have it. Just like I'm allowed my say on the matter.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

Good to hear that business is going so well for you.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Now are you going to stop putting people off asking questions, and let the threads get back on topic, instead of using the forums to try and discredit someone who tells people the truth about the bed industry???0

I'm not discrediting anyone, I have asked a few very valid questions about smaller independent companies. That you fail or refuse to answer, as to how they are different from the major brands. Shall I PM you instead?Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

No it's the whole range, just as it is with many of the big brands. Time and time again people say to me "my previous mattress lasted 15 or so years, but my current mattress only lasted a couple". So they come to me to find mattresses that are made to the same standard that they used to be.Pinkypants wrote: »How, how are they gonna find me, no phone, no name, no region and if I suggest loads of different online companies where's my benefit?
They don't have to find you individually, but if you recommend products, and people take your word for it, then it could increase sales for those products nationally. And that would attract people to your shop that sells them.Pinkypants wrote: »I have never said that a 1 sided mattress will last longer then a 2 sided. Now you are talking complete rubbish. How can a non turn mattress possibly last longer than a two sided mattress that is never turned?.....they would last exactly the same.
Granted many people don't turn their mattresses as often as they should, but even by turning them rarely then they would increase the life of the mattress massively.0 -

And as I've told you previously. If you want to actually learn something about the bed industry, I have answered all of your questions, and many more in the many mattress threads on MSE....so do some searching.0 -

Agreed, try and avoid the big boys, Bensons, Dreams and a like. But there is nothing wrong with the big brands, Sleepeezee still come with a 5 year guarantee. Not a warranty like some.
I have to agree. La Romantica Mattresses are extremely (disproportionately?) popular on these forums and when you google "la romantica mattress" Tim's company is one of the first seller's produced on the search results - coincidence?
Are there really no other decent beds from other manufacturers in the same price bracket? Why the popularity of the La Romantica brand here?
Now Tim often recommends a turnable pocket sprung memory foam mattress from an online seller who allows you to sleep on the mattress and return it if not happy. How many online sellers provide such a product and guarantee? It seem's that Tim's company is one of the few sellers to provide this so if you follow his guidance there is a good chance you will buy from him. Now I accept that I could be wrong but this is how it appears to me. I am happy to be corrected and would be very interested to hear the views of others...
I should point out that I had a bad experience with Tim's company but that bad experience seems to be a rare occurrence as many others seem perfectly happy with product and service.0 -
Are you STILL going on about this?!
This thread is over 2 and a half months old! Are you just searching back through every mattress post you can find to get your two pence in?
Let me try to answer some of your questions;
Why the popularity of the La Romantica brand here? Lots of people have been buying them and reporting back on these forums that they think they are great. I'm sure if you look long and hard enough you'll find someone who didn't like it, although I never have, however even if you do find that 1 or 2 you'll get lots more that say they think it's great.
Ok now we know why they are popular, positive customer feedback. How did they find the bed in the first place? On that I dare say you are dead right and they follow Tim's advice on the different things he recommends that people look for in a bed. He ususally recommends a pocket sprung memory foam mattress(we'll come back to turnable in a minute) and then backs this up with osteopaths recommendations ect, and there are a few on goolge who go along with that advice (either a pocket sprung memory foam mattress or a pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam topper). Second thing Tim advices is that a turnable mattress, regardless of which mattress you get, is always better than a non turnable mattress as it will last a lot longer.
And so we are left with a turnable pocket sprung memory foam mattress.
You are also correct that if you google looking for this type of mattress there are about 4 or 5 sellers, bedkingdom, online beds....can't remember the rest but I did check as I'm sure you'll pull me up on it if you can't find them all yourself, of which his is one.
The kicker is this though, if some of the people on this forum take his advise on a type of mattress and then decide on a Romantica (not because he's touting it but because of the good feedback from other people on this forum that have tried them), buy it, think it's great and save £500 on the mattress they were going to buy of a similar spec from a large name brand then where is the harm?
Look, I don't mean to go on but it's time to let it go. You got your money back. It's Christmas in five days. You've got a little one on the way, which I sincelery wish you all the best wishes in the world with.

Tim/Rdel or whatever you want to be called;)
If you are correct then how can Tim claim to give impartial advice when his advice leads consumers to buy from 1 of four or so firms of which he is one. He could easily give advice on products he does not sell but chooses not to do this as users would then not buy from him. My point is that his advice although some of it is good advice is not impartial imho. That's the only point I wish to make - I think people should be aware.
Have a good Christmas Tim:beer:.0
