Mattresses: Silentnight Hendon (£130) vs La Romantica Madrid (£430+)

Hi guys,

I ordered that cheap mattress from Argos despite having my heart set on a La Romantica Madrdid before but for that price it seemed silly not to go for it.

But Argos cancelled my order for ~£45 and are now offering it for £130.

My question is should I go for it anyway? Or should I spend extra and get the Madrid? Is there a similar one I could go for that's cheaper than the Madrid Tim? (or anyone else!)

I'm almost thinking maybe to go for it for £130, and if I don't like it, I could throw it down in a spare room (without a bed, how chavvy!) and use it as a spare in case someone stays over? What do you guys think?

Cheers!

  • Duno i mean that link for the argos one is showing 200+ for me and for 200 quid there is no way id buy a open coil mattress and it has a pillow top which i have to side with tim on that one i mean for the first year it probs be really nice but i have a feeling ud get lumps cos of the inside of the pillow top moving about when u toss and turn over the years and will effectivly make it a problem to sleep on then. Plus u cant turn it over as its one sided.

Duno about la romantica either cos as i said in another post they have only been operating under that name for 5 years which no one has a mattress over 5 years so no one knows how long it will last as it might last 9 years or they all might start failing next year to make them only last 6 years so u take pot luck with them as to how long it will last u.

Sorry Skeeter, but I just had to step in and say that they have only been operating under the name La Romantica for 5 years (since they were bought out). However most of the staff, and all of the management have many years experience in the bed industry, making beds that have lasted many years.

I'm afraid I can't go into details on here for legal reasons, and it is complicated.

You know how to contact me, so call me and I will explain.

Yes as well as all the other big chain stores, and most of the big brand names in beds.

Why does everyone on here take advice from an online salesman, who keeps pushing his own products.

Agreed, try and avoid the big boys, Bensons, Dreams and a like. But there is nothing wrong with the big brands, Sleepeezee still come with a 5 year guarantee. Not a warranty like some.

I don't push any products. I give general advice. Are you going to disclose who you work for? Because if you are pushing 5" deep memory foam mattresses, and you think Sleepeezee are a good brand, then your shop is one to avoid.

You can get a middle of the range open coil sprung mattress for that price.
